A WALMART customer said she left her cart behind after finding a long line at the checkout.
The buyer turned to X to vent about the store’s apparent lack of staff.
They joined a chorus of common complaints online as Americans became accustomed to sharing their stories on social media.
This means that when people have a problem with a store, they can now air their grievances in cyberspace.
User X Kirk did just that.
THE CLAIM
“For the first time, I arrived at the front of the store with my shopping cart, there were few cashiers open and huge queues at the self checkout,” he said in a post.
The lines caused him to leave completely.
“I abandoned my cart and left the store,” he said.
“How much work did THAT cost?” he asked. “Hire some employees.”
Walmart responded to the criticism, asking for more information.
They responded with a seemingly standard customer service tweet.
“Thank you for sharing this with us,” it read.
“Could you DM us with more details so we can look into this for you?”
It’s unclear whether Kirk ever responded to them.
WAL AI

Although the post-pandemic labor shortage in the US has eased, there are still not enough workers to fill all the open positions in the country.

As the world’s largest private employer, Walmart is likely feeling the crisis.
However, it is under renewed scrutiny as the company implements a new self-checkout policy in some areas.
The company is limiting certain self-checkout machines to those with 15 items or fewer.
It follows a controversial Target policy that has spread over the past year.
However, some Walmart shoppers wanted the new policy.
Walmart is also under fire for electronic price tags.
