A WALMART shopper criticized the retailer in an online rant after she was forced to use a regular cash register instead of a self-checkout machine.

The customer was furious after getting no answers from the store manager and spending 45 minutes waiting in line.

According to the buyer, the self-checkout line was empty, but she was still forced to use the one with a human cashier.

“I’m boycotting #Walmart!” the woman started on her Facebook angry rant.

She said she had 21 items and was told to wait in a “normal line.”

“The only open path was cigarettes. So after some grumbling, she said I would have to talk to a manager about it,” she continued.

She explained that the woman in front of her had “two weeks worth of groceries,” so she grabbed the manager when he walked by to ask what was going on with the “new crappy policy.”

“This is the way it is now,” the manager told the buyer.

When the customer suggested he open more boxes, he responded, “I don’t have enough people to do that.”

In response to his response, the buyer said he “pointed to the 4 employees who were talking and standing in front of the service counter” and suggested they be placed at cash registers.

“Well, this is a high-theft store,” the manager replied.

“What does this have to do with 4 employees there talking?” the buyer questioned.

The store manager said employees may be off work or changing shifts.

He stood next to her and she counted 13 people behind her trying to check out.

“As I started to put my 21 items on my belts, those four women started opening their cash registers and turned on the lights.

She promised she would call another Walmart in the area to see if “they had that shitty policy now.”

Anti-theft measures implemented by retailers

Retailers in the US and Canada have implemented strategies designed to combat theft. The US Sun has compiled a list of measures that have been implemented in stores.

  • Lock items in cabinets.
  • Safety stakes.
  • Security cameras.
  • Signs warning about the impact of theft.
  • Receipt scanners.
  • Receipt checks.
  • Carts with locking technology

“I would walk past that store and go to her,” she fumed.

“He [the manager] He said it’s your choice and left!

“I could have been home 45 minutes ago if they let me use self-checkout! #BoycottWalmart.”

FRUSTRATED CUSTOMERS

Walmart’s anti-theft attempt to close its self-checkout lanes isn’t the only policy angering shoppers.

Receipt checks also generate discussion among buyers on social media.

On X, the retail giant responded to a customer who claimed a worker went too far when checking their receipt.

“@Walmart one of your ‘Karen receipt police’ put her hands on my husband while we were leaving because she wanted our receipt,” the user tweeted.

“She put her hand on my husband’s arm to express her opinion.

“If this happens again, this conversation will take place on a different platform than X.”

The user also included a photo of the receipt that totaled $216.11.

Walmart quickly responded to the shopper, saying, “Matters like this are very serious and we would like to know more. Could you send a DM with more information?”
