The lawsuit alleged that Kirkland baby wipes were not flushable as advertised.

The deal benefits consumers who purchased Kirkland Signature Moist Flushable Wipes between July 1, 2011 and May 31, 2017.

Applicants must have purchased the wipes in New York.

The plaintiffs allege that the flushing of the wipes caused damage to pipes, septic systems, sewer lines and other plumbing fixtures.

Costco denied the allegations.

Consumers said they would not have purchased the wipes if they had known they were not actually flushable as advertised.

Costco is a wholesale retailer offering a curated selection of electronics, furniture, appliances, jewelry and more.

Costco shoppers enjoy low prices on name-brand products as well as exclusive member offers and discounts.

The retailer’s exclusive brand, Kirkland, has helped Costco generate significant commercial sales.

Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand generated nearly $60 billion in sales during Costco’s fiscal year ending in August 2021—equivalent to about a quarter of the business’ total revenue, Yahoo! Finance reported.

Costco shoppers who purchase Kirkland products receive a one-time payment of $55.90 – no proof of receipt is required to receive the money

This makes Kirkland America’s largest consumer packaged goods brand in terms of sales.

Costco did not admit any wrongdoing, but agreed to pay $2 million to settle the false advertising class action.

According to townstudents can receive $1.30 per product purchased.

Regardless of the quantity of products purchased, students will receive a minimum of US$7.50.

What is a class action settlement?

Class action lawsuits offer groups of people, or “classes,” a way to come together in court.

These lawsuits are often filed by one or a few people who allege that a company or other entity has harmed a large group of people.

When a lawsuit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members,” or people who may have similar claims to those who filed the lawsuit.

Companies often settle class actions – offering payment to class members who typically waive their right to pursue legal action by accepting money.

These payment agreements often include statements from the defendant denying wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class actions to avoid the costs of further litigation.

Pollution, discrimination or false advertising are some examples of what can lead to a class action lawsuit at a company’s door.

However, consumers can claim up to 43 products for a maximum payment of $55.90.

Proof of purchase is not required to receive these payments.

Non-Costco members must submit a complaint online by August 9th or by mail so it is received no later than August 9th.

On August 30, the court will hold a hearing to determine whether the settlement will be approved.

In another class action settlement, Americans have the chance to claim hundreds of dollars if they recently purchased a Bosch microwave or oven..

And lottery players have been warned about the fast-approaching deadline for a five-figure prize.
