This furniture and appliance store posted large closing signs in three locations.

A store is set to close in Wichita Falls, Texas, near the Oklahoma state line, according to Texoma homepage.

This 40,000 square foot location originally opened in August 2020.

The other stores will close in Louisiana.

One such location is in a shopping mall in Slidell, Louisiana, about 30 miles north of New Orleans, according to Nola.com.

This store also opened in 2020.

Some people shared their surprise at the news in the comments of a Facebook publish.

“Wow. They haven’t been open long,” one person wrote.

Another commenter noted that this was another example of the so-called retail apocalypse.

“Brick-and-mortar stores are a thing of the past,” they wrote.

The retail apocalypse referred to the increasing number of stores that closed their physical locations across the country.

Conn’s was also affected by this and reportedly considered filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, according to Nola.com.

The Texas-based chain has 199 locations in 15 states, according to ScratchHero.

Conn’s is also expected to close a store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, according to The lawyer.

Store closures in 2024

The ongoing retail apocalypse has hit more and more retailers and resulted in more stores closing.

The US Sun has previously reported on several chains saying goodbye to some of their locations.

The company did not disclose the closing dates of these branches.

This chain was not the only one to deal with several store closures.

Supermarket chain Big Lots has confirmed it will close up to 40 stores this year.

In June, the company confirmed that 35 to 40 of its 1,389 locations would close.

The chain also confirmed that it intends to add three more stores.

Network executives blamed the economy and inflation for these changes.
