Going by the name Alan Waseta, they wrote a long diatribe about how they were overcharged.

They said that after receiving an undue payment from Social Security, they made the refund.

But after agreeing to refund, they received another letter demanding the overpayment.

It is unclear whether this second letter was a new overpayment or a repeated charge of the same overpayment.

Social Security sometimes pays people too much money by accident.

When the Administration discovers that someone has been overpaid, it tries to charge people to recover their losses.

The Social Security Administration did not respond to comment.

THE COMMENT

Alan began his post by saying that the SSA “Needs to Correct [their] mistakes.”

He said that after receiving the overpayment, his account was “frozen.”

This happened despite him allegedly agreeing to a refund.

‘Everything is gone’, cries victim after $500,000 drained from retirement – it left her afraid of going to prison

“I had made an agreement to repay the overpayment,” he said.

He then said SSA again charged him $5,000.

Although it is unclear why this charge was made, Alan stated that it was “unjustified”.

After asking for a response on Facebook, the agency did not respond.

It is unclear whether the agency reached out privately to resolve the complaint.
