A WALMART customer has explained why he decided to abandon his shopping cart at his local store, describing the situation as “annoying.”

The buyer went to Xformerly known as Twitter, expressing exactly what feelings about the retailer’s shopping cart led him to simply leave it somewhere in the store after trying to use it.

The consumer went so far as to compare themselves to a prisoner because of the horrible in-store experience.

“Feeling like a criminal because I was in Wal-Mart and the stroller I bought was ridiculously loud and annoying,” said the buyer shared.

“The wheel was fucked up so I left it in a hallway, I’m sorry but this is so embarrassing.”

His online admission generated a response from the company itself.

“Rileigh, this seems difficult,” Walmart responded on its official X account (@walmarthelp).

“Let’s see what we can do with the shopping carts. Can you DM us the store you were shopping at so we can get started?”

Another consumer who saw the buyer’s post felt empathy for the extremely embarrassing situation.

“You did what needed to be done,” they told the original poster.

“Because I’m so guilty of it.”

In addition to user X who told the Walmart shopper who shared the post that they have similar experiences with carts at the retailer, countless customers abandon their shopping carts.

THINK AGAIN!

A consumer simply left his shopping cart in the Walmart checkout line out of frustration.

She was so angry that the customer left after being told she could only use self-checkout.

The shopper was furious after leaving a trip to a Walmart store in Dubuque, Iowa.

Sharon Ackerman went to Facebook explaining how she went to the retailer and filled her cart with items costing between $40 and $50.

Latest self-checkout changes

Retailers are evolving their self-checkout strategy in an effort to speed checkout times and reduce theft.

Walmart shoppers were shocked when self-checkout lanes at several locations were made available only to Walmart+ members.

Other customers reported that self-checkout was closed at specific times and more cashiers were offered in its place.

While shoppers feared that shoplifting would fuel the updates, a Walmart spokesperson revealed that store managers are simply experimenting with ways to improve checkout performance.

One bizarre experiment included an RFID-powered self-checkout kiosk that would thwart fiercely contested receipt checks.

However, this test has been discontinued.

At Target, items are being limited in auto-checkout.

Last fall, the brand researched new express self-checkout lanes in 200 stores with 10 items or less for added convenience.

In March 2024, this policy was expanded to 2,000 stores in the US.

On social media, the buyer shared that she then went to the cashier, but claimed that none of them were open.

Ackerman even asked an associate about the possibility of opening one of the records, but her request was denied.

The consumer saw the size of the self-checkout queue and considered that there was a good number of items in the cart.

“I left my cart and my items and left,” she said.

She even said this wasn’t her first bad experience trying to shop at Walmart.

What Ackerman explained made her think twice before shopping at the store.
