Angry McDonald’s fans say ‘You’re better off not eating’ as report reveals menu prices have increased by 199% in just 10 years

FAST food isn’t as cheap as it once was, and McDonald’s fans are furious about the chain’s price increases over the years.

Some fast food chain menu prices are 199% higher than they were 10 years ago.

A McDonald’s fan shared a Reddit publish referencing a FinanceBuzz report that highlights how food prices at the chain have essentially doubled since 2014.

The item with the biggest percentage increase over the last 10 years was the McChicken Sandwich, which rose 199%, from $1 to $2.99.

The Quarter Pounder with Cheese Meal at McDonald’s has seen the biggest price increase since 2014.

The meal increased by $6.60, from $5.39 to $11.99 – a 122% increase.

Another notable price increase is the 10-piece McNugget Meal, which costs $5 more than in 2014.

The price of the meal shot up from $5.99 to $10.99, or 83%.

Other McDonald’s items increased by at least $2, including the four-piece McNugget Happy Meal, Oreo McFlurry, Medium Fries and McDouble Sandwich.

PRICE REPLACEMENT

Rising menu prices have turned off many McDonald’s fans, as what was once considered a cheap place to eat is becoming increasingly unaffordable.

“This stopped me from going there. But it’s good, I learned that sometimes it’s better not to eat,” said one Reddit user.

Another customer shared that they are spending their money at Aldi because they can no longer afford fast food.

Other customers had a more positive opinion about the price increases, claiming that eating out less had encouraged them to lose weight and consume less unhealthy food.

“You can get two to two pounds of chicken breast for less than $13 at Walmart, which is about what a Big Mac meal costs,” one said.

“McDonald’s is doing America a favor by discouraging the consumption of their shitty food.”

Another fan speculated that McDonald’s purposely raised prices to reduce the number of customers, thus decreasing the need for employees.

“They have fewer employees because they purposely have fewer customers,” the McDonald’s customer began.

“People don’t seem to realize that McDonald’s has gone from serving many customers quickly and with low margins to serving fewer customers more slowly, with higher margins to make up the difference.”

They added that the chain used to be for “poor people” but is now for “lazy rich” people who don’t pay much attention to menu prices.

Price increases have also hit consumer wallets outside of the fast food scene.

Meanwhile, Goodwill customers have been furious about rising costs, as shoppers say the prices are “like a department store.”

Additionally, Macy’s shoppers will see a whopping 6% increase in credit card fees, which could more than double the amount customers have to pay.
