The Bissell recall web page sets out the four-step criteria customers must follow to access their refund.

The website advises consumers to stop using the product immediately and find the model number.

The customer must then cut the cable close to the base of the machine and take a photo to verify that this has been done.

What is a class action settlement?

Class action lawsuits offer groups of people, or “classes,” a way to come together in court.

These lawsuits are often filed by one or a few people who allege that a company or other entity has harmed a large group of people.

When a lawsuit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members,” or people who may have similar claims to those who filed the lawsuit.

Companies often settle class actions – offering payment to class members who typically waive their right to pursue legal action by accepting money.

These payment agreements often include statements from the defendant denying wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class actions to avoid the costs of further litigation.

Pollution, discrimination or false advertising are some examples of what can lead to a class action lawsuit at a company’s door.

If customers have more than one portable cleaner, they must submit separate forms for each individual product, Bissell says.

Once customers receive their refund, they should throw away the steam cleaner – but not before the refund or store credit is received.

The steam cleaner was sold in the US and Canada and could be purchased on Amazon and other retailers, as well as Target It is Wal-Mart stores.

Other products Bissell has to offer include a popular carpet cleaner that has earned rave reviews on TikTok.

“Bissell has spent nearly 150 years producing quality products that consumers can trust,” the recall page says.

“We are proud to have sold millions of products worldwide.”

“Above all else, safety is our top priority.”
