“Did a @kroger digital coupon ever work the first time?” the user asked.

“I just abandoned my cart for the first time after spending over 15 minutes trying to load the app or website in store.

“I can’t wait until Publix opens!” they added.

The user directly addressed the retailer in their X post, expressing their frustration with the experience.

“We’re sorry to hear you had difficulty downloading your coupon,” said the @kroger official account responded.

They asked the buyer to send a private message with more details about the incident.

This isn’t the first time the retailer has come under fire from angry customers.

Earlier this month, a customer returned her entire Kroger store after the brand refused to refund her for an item she was overcharged for.

The woman noticed she had been charged $5.99 instead of $2.99 for a Pepsi, she said. publish on Facebook.

Even though it was 19 days after she made the purchase, she went to Kroger to resolve the issue.

Shoppers abandon carts due to cashier frustrations

The store, however, said that it had been a long time since the purchase was made.

This reaction led to the customer returning her entire shopping cart, worth more than $106.

People turned to buyers for support, recognizing how “frustrating” the problem was.

“Good for you,” wrote another user. “There are other supermarkets and we can do business in any of them!”

Latest self-checkout changes

Retailers are evolving their self-checkout strategy in an effort to speed checkout times and reduce theft.

Walmart shoppers were shocked when self-checkout lanes at several locations were made available only to Walmart+ members.

Other customers reported that self-checkout was closed at specific times and more cashiers were offered in its place.

While shoppers feared that shoplifting would fuel the updates, a Walmart spokesperson revealed that store managers are simply experimenting with ways to improve checkout performance.

One bizarre experiment included an RFID-powered self-checkout kiosk that would thwart fiercely contested receipt checks.

However, this test has been discontinued.

At Target, items are being limited in auto-checkout.

Last fall, the brand researched new express self-checkout lanes in 200 stores with 10 items or less for added convenience.

In March 2024, this policy was expanded to 2,000 stores in the US.

Shoppers also identified their local Walmart stores restricting customers to 15 items or less to use self-checkout machines.

Other Kroger buyers also spoke out about their overcharging ordeals.

One man was charged more than $400 extra for his store.

“My order was delivered to the wrong place. It took me almost three months to get my money back,” he said. he wrote in X.

Even more shocking than that, another shopper received a whopping $2,783.25 bill for a store that was only supposed to cost $282.

“My heart stopped because I was thinking about panic,” she said in an interview.

“Something is happening and I have to react very quickly and I didn’t even know where to start,” she said.
