COSTCO shoppers are tired of ID checks at the retail chain and are considering canceling their subscriptions.
The retailer announced earlier this year that identification documents must be scanned at the door before entering the store.

This policy change has left buyers confused and questioning whether this measure is necessary.
“I still don’t understand why there is a need to show it when entering, if everyone knows that it is not possible to buy without a signature”, said a customer he wrote on Facebook.
Costco operates a members-only system, so only shoppers who have already signed up can purchase items in the store.
One condition that customers must agree to is to bring their membership card with them whenever they make purchases at the retail chain.
But people seem to be fed up with the constant ID checks.
Some also questioned whether this policy is causing the chain to lose business.
“What’s the purpose of this?” another user wrote in a Facebook post.
“If members take extra measures family by shopping, they are earning more money.
“I believe they only want certain people in their stores,” the shopper argued.
“I have a subscription, but I won’t renew it if it has to be checked at the door than again in the records.
“They’re not that good,” she declared.

This debate over member ID appears to be an attempt by Costco to reduce card sharing.
Some shoppers share their member ID with friends and family, but this is against retailer policy.
Costco Membership Sharing Guidelines
Costco has strict rules for subscription usage that shoppers must follow and has been cracking down on violators in recent years.
- Core Member Usage: Only the primary cardholder can use this Costco membership card. It is not allowed to share it for purchases, as the photo on the card must correspond to the person using it.
- Domestic Card: Each Prime Member can add one free Household Cardholder who lives at the same address. That person will receive their own membership card and can shop at Costco independently.
- Guest Policy: Members can bring up to two guests per Costco visit. However, only the member can make purchases. Guests must be accompanied by a member.
- Authorized cardholder: For an additional fee, you can add an authorized cardholder, such as a family member or friend, who does not reside at your address. They will receive their own card and will be able to make purchases independently.

“Yes, we really need to see your membership card (or app) when you enter the warehouse. No, we won’t bother you,” wrote another user.
“We are doomed,” wrote another person.
Frustrated shoppers are considering canceling their membership due to Costco’s policy changes.
Others are outraged by the retailer’s price hikes.
“It’s not worth it to continue being a Costco member,” concluded one customer.
