LOTTERY officials have urged players to check their phones as millions of dollars could go unclaimed.

The winning ticket was sold on the Georgia Lottery mobile app in Powder Springs, a town twenty miles west of Atlanta.

Wednesday night’s jackpot was $116 million, but no one matched all five numbers and the Powerball.

The winning numbers were 16, 42, 59, 63, 68 and a Powerball of 13.

PLAYING ONLINE

Lottery players can receive various benefits by downloading the Georgia Lottery mobile app according to their website.

Players can scan Georgia Lottery scratch-offs and drawing tickets to see if they won using the app.

They can also check the winning numbers.

The mobile app can help players find Georgia Lottery retailers nearby or by zip code.

With the Georgia Lottery app, players can even purchase Cash Pop, KENO!, Fantasy 5, Mega Millions, Cash3, Cash4 and Powerball tickets.

And they can also play Diggi Games – interactive instant games from the Georgia Lottery.

However, not all states offer players a mobile app or online forum where they can purchase and play lottery games.

There is a way to play or buy tickets online in just over half of the 45 states that offer Powerball and Mega Millions, according to USA today.

Currently, only ten state lotteries allow online purchases.

WAYS TO EARN

There are nine ways for a player to win the Powerball.

Each combination comes with its own cash prize value.

If the player’s Powerball number matches the one drawn, they will receive a total of $4. The probability of a ticket matching just the Powerball is one in 38.

Can you buy Powerball tickets online?

Whether or not you can buy a Powerball ticket online depends on your location.

Lotteries in only nine states and the District of Columbia currently offer ways to purchase Powerball tickets online or through the lottery’s mobile app.

These states include:

  • Georgia
  • Illinois
  • Kentucky
  • Michigan
  • New Hampshire
  • North Caroline
  • North Dakota
  • Pennsylvania
  • Virginia

If you don’t live in one of these states, you might not be completely out of luck.

Another option that has emerged in recent years is courier services, which allow players to order lottery tickets through a mobile app or website.

These companies purchase the ticket on the player’s behalf from a licensed retailer in their state, then upload an image to the app and securely store the physical ticket.

While most of these companies do not take anything from the player’s winnings, some require a subscription or service fee when putting money into the account.

If they pick a correct number plus the Powerball, they will take home $4 again. The odds more than double, to a one in 91 chance.

If the ticket matches two numbers and the Powerball, they will receive $7, but the chances of getting there skyrocket to one in 701.

The odds of getting three numbers correct are 579 to one, but players only take home another $7.

If a player buys a ticket that matches three numbers and the Powerball, they will win a prize of $100.

The odds of buying a ticket containing four numbers without the Powerball nearly double again to 36,525 for one chance, but the prize remains at $100.

When a player correctly guesses four numbers and the Powerball, the prize skyrockets to $50,000.

To claim the $1 million prize, they will need to match the numbers on the five white balls drawn without the Powerball and beat the odds of 11,688,053 with one odds.

The vast majority of people who play to win the jackpot have the odds against them, with just 292,201,338 for a chance to buy a ticket that matches all five numbers and the Powerball.

Meanwhile, lottery players have been warned to check their tickets as the $1 million prize has not been claimed in Arizona.

And lottery winners in Missouri are missing out on thousands of dollars in winnings.
