PEPSI fans begged the brand to keep two newly introduced flavors in its lineup forever.
On Thursday, the fresh soft drinks were presented to fans in preparation for the summer barbecues.
The company cited a study that found that about 80% of Americans prefer outdoor barbecues when the weather is hot rather than going outside, with the “delicious fizz” of cola being a perfect match for grilled foods, for a Press release.
With this in mind, Pepsi partnered with Chef Bobby Flay to “make grilling better” with two new variations of the classic soda – Pepsi Peach and Pepsi Lime.
“To make outdoor cooking more delicious than ever, Pepsi tapped America’s favorite grill master, culinary expert Bobby Flay, inviting customers across the country to indulge unapologetically all summer long with a epic combination of fun, food and cold Pepsi”, wrote the brand. .
“Cola fans and lovers alike will discover how flame-licked foods — from barbecue chicken, burgers, to a perfectly grilled steak and more — will #BetterWithPepsi.”
Along with the two new flavors, Pepsi confirmed that Flay would play a major role in Pepsi advertising and customer opportunities during Memorial Day.
Flay will be part of “a social series of tips, tricks, tutorials and more.”
He was also adamant about how Pepsi Lime and Pepsi Peach could “elevate the experience” of grilled meals this summer.
“Grilling and Pepsi go hand in hand as summer staples, and I’m as excited as anyone to explore the possibilities that Pepsi Lime and Pepsi Peach bring to the table this season,” the culinary expert said in the release.
Pepsi said the peach and lemon flavoring additives were deliberately chosen to enhance American barbecues.
He called them “tailor-made for the summer grill life,” with the citrusy finish of the lime and the sweetness of the peaches being the perfect match for the crisp cola flavor of the Pepsi.
Customers eager to try Pepsi Lime and Pepsi Peach will apparently have to wait a little longer.
The company confirmed that the flavors would be launching in 20-ounce bottles and 12-ounce cans nationwide “soon.”
He did not specify an exact date, but it will certainly be before summer.
When Pepsi Lime and Pepsi Peach officially launch, fans will be able to use the brand’s products location tool to find out where to get some for your barbecues and grilling.
DON’T LET THEM GO
Several have already expressed their enthusiasm for the summer lineup, and some have called for the return of the discontinued lime-flavored Pepsi Twist to return alongside Lime and Peach.
“Keep these flavors forever and bring back the Lemon Pepsi Twist,” one fan wrote on Facebook.
“Have them all in the diet and regularly and I will be happy again.”
“Pepsi with Lime is very welcome back. Don’t STOP this time. KEEP FOREVER!!” another echoed.
“Yes!!! I’ve been praying for Pepsi Lime!” a third exclaimed.
Someone added: “Can we get the lemon Pepsi back?”
As The US Sun reported last summer, demand for Pepsi Twist has been there for some time.
The brand responded to a customer on X, formerly Twitter, that it had “no plans” to bring it back, but would pass on the information.
