FIVE Below shoppers are rushing to score $5 copies of lotions and perfumes from a popular beauty brand.
Thrifty shoppers claim Sol de Janeiro idiots are a perfect match – but they come at a heavily discounted price.
Sol de Janeiro is an American skincare and fragrance company founded in 2015 that quickly gained popularity last year due to widespread love for its Brazilian Bum Bum cream.
Several companies, including Five Below, have released replicas of the brand’s lotions and fragrances to capitalize on its popularity.
Beauty influencer Cortney Dryden (@cortneydryden) put the Five Below idiot to the test in a TikTok video From April.
She stitched another video explaining how the discount store’s Solar Flare Caramel Dreams perfume matched Sol de Janeiro’s 62, Pink Hibiscus matched the brand’s 68, and the brand’s Vanilla Plum Nectar perfume matched 40.
Dryden purchased all three sets of perfumes and body butters to compare their scents to the originals.
“I actually needed a salesperson to help me find them because they are selling out everywhere,” she said.
She read the description of each Sol de Janeiro product and was amused by the similarity between them and the originals.
Dryden first sprayed Caramel Dreams and Sol de Janeiro 62.
“Oh my God,” the influencer said while laughing. “I’m not kidding when I say this is the best asshole I’ve ever smelled.”
Then she sprayed 68 and the silly Pink Hibiscus, claiming the latter was “definitely not that good.”
“That’s it for me,” she said, holding up Sol de Janeiro 68. “It’s close enough.”
Dryden then tried the Vanilla Plum Nectar perfume, a replica of Sol de Janeiro 40.
“It’s so instantly recognizable. This one is perfect and I bet if you put a layer of body butter on it you’d get this longevity,” she said.
“Scent-wise, these $5 perfumes from Five Below are legitimately the best Sol de Janeiro dupes I’ve ever smelled,” the beauty influencer concluded.

One shopper praised them for being highly affordable and shared that they “smell exactly the same and last a long time.”

Sol de Janeiro perfumes sell for around $38 at retailers like Sephora, while lotions cost around $48.
