Sam’s Club is facing criticism on social media over policy changes.
In June 2024, Andrew Mashburn aired his grievances with the storage company in a Facebook publish.
According to the dissatisfied buyer, Sam’s Club changed its membership terms after he paid his annual fee.
According to Mashburn, the retailer now only offers free shipping on minimum orders of $50, which is higher than most stores’ free shipping policies.
According to the post, the chain hasn’t offered refunds on items shipped to Plus members for a few years, saying it was because it would offer free shipping.
“Now they’ve pulled the rug out from under Plus members, taking effect in August, not even at the next renewal,” Mashburn continued.
“We intend to leave Sam’s Club because of its ever-changing ‘perks’. It’s not even worth it anymore.”
US Sun has reached out to Sam’s Club for comment.

Sam’s Club offers two types of memberships, including a club membership that costs $50 per year and a Plus membership that costs $110 per year.
Both options include perks like bonus offers, same-day delivery and instant savings, according to the retail giant website.
However, Plus members enjoy additional benefits like free curbside pickup, advance purchases, and pharmacy discounts.
Following the controversial policy change, Club members will only receive free shipping on items designated as “Free Shipping,” according to Sam Club’s Shipping FAQ Page.
The store encourages shoppers to upgrade to a Plus subscription “to enjoy free shipping on most items.”
OTHER PROBLEMS
Other shoppers complained about Sam’s Club on social media.
Just like Mashburn, another customer announced they would cancel their subscription following the free shipping debacle.

“Long-time @SamsClub Plus member but will be canceled once new shipping rates start on August 19th,” he said. he wrote in X.
“I suspect many Plus members will. Remind me again why I’m paying $110 annually?
“@Amazon Prime is a little more expensive and offers more than free shipping.
“Brilliant decision,” he added with an eye-rolling emoji.
Another customer canceled his 25-year membership due to the tire policy and encouraged others to shop at BJ’s or Costco.
