Target announced its Denim Take Back event in July 2024 Press release.

From August 4th through August 10th, customers can get 20% off their purchase of new denim apparel with Target Circle when they trade in their worn or outgrown jeans at marked boxes in-store.

The 20% promo code can be redeemed for a one-time discount on all shoppers’ denim clothing purchases after they turn in up to five pre-owned denim items of any condition and from any brand.

The eco-friendly event encourages consumers to recycle their old clothes, keeping them out of landfills – while also saving on the items they will use, according to a press release.

“Our new Denim Take Back event is an easy way for families to breathe new life into their worn-in jeans,” said Gena Fox, senior vice president of apparel and accessories merchandising at Target.

“With back-to-school and college shopping a priority for families, we’re offering this 20% off Target Circle deal to make it even more affordable for our guests to update their denim wardrobes while we do our part to reduce waste and keep used jeans out of landfills.”

Customers can shop their new denim items in-store, online or through the Target app.

In addition to the 20% off Target Circle offer, customers with a Target Circle card can also save an extra 5% on their denim purchase.

“Target’s Denim Take Back event responds to growing consumer interest in products and programs that help reduce waste and advances the retailer’s commitment to creating and curating inclusive and sustainable brands and experiences,” the press release continues.

“This allows consumers to breathe new life into their old items and keep used jeans out of landfills, as the denim materials will be recycled and repurposed by Target’s partners.”

Customers can trade in their old car seats in exchange for a 20% off coupon good for a new car seat, car seat base, travel system, stroller or certain items of home baby equipment, according to the Waste disposal and reduction section of your website.

Materials from used car seats are recycled to make new items like pallets, plastic buckets, and building materials.

The company has offered car seat swap events every year since 2016.
