SONIC has debuted a tasty new menu item and its price rivals a similar product from Burger King.
The burger was released on Monday, allowing customers an exclusive taste of the meal.
Sonic Drive-In announced that SONIC Smasher will be available through its app starting July 29th.
Fans were able to get an early taste of this updated menu item if they purchased it through the app.
Sonic’s cheeseburger has been described as a premium burger without a premium price tag, according to Commercial Wire.
A regular SONIC Smasher costs just US$6.49 and for those who want more, the SONIC Triple Smasher starts at US$7.49.

The SONIC Smasher rivals Burger King’s new Fiery Bacon Whopper, which launched two weeks ago on July 18.
The Whopper costs around $10 dollarsmaking the Sonic burger a more affordable alternative.
It consists of two Angus burgers, two slices of melted American cheese, a signature Smasher sauce, crushed cut pickles, and diced onions.
All these delicacies are prepared by hand and served inside a soft potato bun.
For customers who do not use the SONIC App, the burger will be available all over the country in next Monday, August 5th.
Burger King’s most expensive Whopper is part of the chain’s “Fiery Menu” – five new items, each with a different spice level.
The spicy flavor varies from Level 1 – the mildest – to Level 5 – the most spicy.
The least spicy item offered is Fiery Strawberry & Sprite, which is a level 1 spice, according to Fox Business.
Burger King’s Bacon Whopper is reportedly a level 3 on the spice scale.
While customers may be curious to try this Spicy Bacon Whopper, its higher price may tempt them to try the SONIC Smasher.
“Consumers should be able to enjoy a premium cheeseburger without having to pay the high costs charged by many fast-casual burger brands,” said Ryan Dickerson, chief marketing officer at SONIC.
“Our mission at SONIC has always been to bring fun, craveable food to our guests at unbeatable prices.
“With SONIC Smasher, our culinary experts have allowed us take it commitment to the next level.
“This burger isn’t just crushed by hand – it’s a blend of textures and flavors that come together for a cheeseburger that’s crispy, juicy and melty at the same time,” said Dickerson.
