The Starbucks app stopped working around 8:30 a.m. ET, according to Down Detectora website that monitors digital issues.

Coffee fans have also reported issues with Starbucks’ website, meaning the chain will likely be unable to take mobile orders.

Issues have been reported in Boston, New York, Washington DC, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Tampa and other major cities, according to DownDetector’s outage map.

Around 90% of the issue stems from the app, while 8% were reported at login and 2% at checkout.

It is not known what caused the application to stop.

At least 33 million Americans use the Starbucks app, but the number of affected users is not known.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE STARBUCKS APP

Order in advance and pay easily

  • One of the standout features of the Starbucks app is the ability to order ahead and pay at participating locations. Whether you’re in a rush for work or just don’t want to wait in line, this feature allows you to customize and place your order in advance. When you arrive at the store, your order will be ready for you, saving you precious time. You can pay with cash, credit card or Starbucks card, ensuring a seamless and flexible transaction.

Track your Starbucks Rewards

  • The app provides a comprehensive view of the stars and awards you’ve earned, regardless of your payment method. This feature ensures you never miss a chance to earn stars, helping you get closer to your next free drink or food. The app updates in real time, so you always know exactly where you stand in the Rewards program.

Locate stores

  • Whether you’re in an unfamiliar area or looking for the nearest drive-thru, the app’s store locator has you covered. Additionally, you can redeem special offers directly through the app. These offers, adapted to your preferences, provide opportunities to try new products or enjoy discounts on your favorites.

About 25% of Starbucks transactions are done through mobile ordering.

FAN FURY

Many Starbucks customers were upset about the problems, venting their frustrations on social media.

“The Starbucks app is down, corporate America has found SHAKING,” said one user X.

“The Starbucks app is down. I had to order in person like a savage!” another customer shared in the DownDetector comments section.

Others were angry that the outage occurred on a business day — today, Starbucks is offering BOGO drinks from 12pm to 6pm.

“Of course something goes wrong during a promotional day,” fumed one fan.

She explained that she was trying to order something for her husband on the app, but Starbucks stores wouldn’t load it.

She then deleted and reinstalled the app, but couldn’t even log in.

Other Starbucks customers shared screenshots of their apps, revealing that they were kicked out of their accounts with the app constantly reloading.

One user complained that the coffee chain’s app crashed once every two weeks.

Some fans were upset that mobile ordering wasn’t working on their birthday, meaning they couldn’t get their free birthday reward.

“It’s my birthday and the Starbucks app is down. This sounds like a terrible conspiracy,” shouted one customer.

In other Starbucks news, the chain abruptly closed a location featured on a hit TV show.

Additionally, fans are furious about the new cups and claim it “changes the taste.”
