A FURIOUS Walmart shopper has criticized the retailer for not accepting a popular payment method.
Customers have continually begged the chain to start accepting Apple Pay in its stores.
But nearly 10 years after the launch of Apple Pay, Walmart still doesn’t accept the payment option.
Apple Pay is a convenient way for customers to make purchases.
It allows them to simply tap their phone and avoid the hassle of searching for their credit card in their purse or wallet.
Many frustrated buyers turned to X to complain about this policy.
They questioned why Walmart still refuses to accept Apple or Google Pay.
“I hate that @Walmart is still stuck in 1999,” said one shopper he said.
“Everyone has Apple Pay, except they rock it.”
“Walmart is the only place that doesn’t offer Apple Pay, omg I was so embarrassed,” wrote another customer.
The retailer has been criticized by several dissatisfied customers.
“Walmart is so childish for not having Apple Pay”, a post he said.
“Any major retailer that doesn’t accept Apple Pay in big ol’ 2024 is trash… I’m looking at you @Walmart,” said another.
According to a survey of US Sun readers, 77.9% were in favor of Walmart introducing a tap-to-pay option.
Earlier this year, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon explained why the retailer doesn’t allow Apple Pay.
“We would like customers to open our app in store all the time,” he explained.
The experience this creates for shoppers is “incredible,” according to McMillon.
The CEO explained that the app can also be used for payments – another reason he wants customers to use it instead of Apple Pay.
Why doesn’t Walmart offer Apple Pay?
