A STARBUCKS customer is shocked to find mysterious floating chunks in his drink.
The customer posted on Reddit asking if anyone could identify the murky white bits at the bottom of their drink.
The buyer posted a photo of its Summer Skies Drink, the coffee chain’s signature summer drink that combines raspberry, blueberry and blackberry flavors. It’s shaken with ice and creamy coconut milk and drizzled with raspberry-flavored pearls.
In the photo, the customer zooms in on the pearls at the bottom of the drink.
A second photo points to the “hard white stuff” the Redditor is complaining about.
The customer titled his post: “Hard white things in my summer sky drink boba.”
“Even though they are perfectly safe to consume, they are really unpleasant,” they wrote.
“I know my photos aren’t the best, but there are hard white bits in the boba – they almost look like pieces of paper, but much more brittle.”
Although no one could agree on what exactly the hard white lumps were, some speculated that they were hardened sugar.
“It’s manufacturing, it’s like sugar that hasn’t fully dissolved,” one person responded.
Another person suggested the parts were due to improper beverage storage.
“So apparently if it’s shipped in cold weather or if people put it in the fridge, it gets that white stuff on it. They’re supposed to be stored at room temperature, but some people somehow didn’t get the memo,” the commenter wrote.
APP-OCALYPSE
This isn’t the only problem Starbucks lovers have had with the store recently.
On July 30, the app suffered a nationwide blackout, leaving many unable to order their morning coffee on their cell phone.
Problems have been reported in major cities such as Boston, New York and Washington, Down Detector reported.
The app was down from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., disrupting customers’ ability to place orders on their cell phone and check their app for rewards points.
“Earlier today, some customers were briefly unable to access the mobile ordering and payment feature in the Starbucks app due to a third-party system outage,” a Starbucks representative previously told The US Sun.
“We are happy to share that order-ahead functionality has been largely restored and customers can continue to use the in-app feature.
“Our stores are open and ready to welcome customers and where limited disruptions remain, we are working to resolve them as quickly as possible.”
Starbucks members joked online about being forced to return to the “wild” nature of ordering in person.
“The Starbucks app is down. I had to order it in person, like a savage,” one person wrote in the DownDetector comments section.
In addition to problems with the app, customers also complained about the new cups that the retailer started using.
Additionally, the chain recently struggled to keep open an iconic location featured in Sex and the City: The Movie.
