MANY stores across the country have already started putting out their annual Halloween decorations, despite it still being July.

Some shoppers who love the spooky season are excited about changing decor while temperatures are still high in a move called Summerween.

But other Costco customers aren’t thrilled with the decor, which many say caught them off guard and even scared their children.

“Costco’s werewolf display made my 4-year-old cry.” he said Allisa Beth on Facebook.

“Thanks, Costco,” she said sarcastically.

“And yes, I was a Karen today.

“I spoke to the assistant manager,” she continued.

“Maybe if they hear more complaints they will remove it or at least move it somewhere other than the MAIN hallway.

“We walked around the whole store with him saying ‘Is that scary thing coming again?’” she said of her son’s response to the display.

“And THREE months before Halloween,” Beth said.

Others agreed with her and said they did the same.

“You are not alone,” wrote Emily Best, another customer.

“There was no way around it,” Best said.

“You couldn’t even look in the opposite direction because there was another big, scary decoration right in front of you,” Best continued.

“Honestly, this makes me furious,” said another.

“I will never understand why these stores put up terrifying decorations,” she said.

“If it’s only October, I’ll avoid your store with my kids for a month,” she continued.

“But it’s July, this is crazy,” she concluded.

What is summer?

Summerween is what people on social media are calling the new craze, where stores are starting to swap out their summer decor for fall and Halloween themed decorations later in the summer.

This year, Summerween began at the end of July and is expected to last through the Halloween season until the end of October.

One comment thanked Beth for not only speaking to store management, but for her post that now serves as a warning not to take your kids to Costco.

“I don’t understand the need for stores to put up decorations for the next holiday 3 to 4 months in advance,” she said.

Five days after the initial post, Beth announced in Tuesday’s comments that Costco had removed the display.

Others in the comments celebrated with her as she shared the news.
