Etsy prepares to offer new membership levels for buyers and sellers – promising cheaper deliveries and annual gifts

The e-commerce giant is known for selling products from independent artists and artisans.

Now, it is launching a loyalty program.

It’s called Etsy Insider and promises several changes for buyers.

Buyers will pay a fee annually or seasonally, an Etsy spokesperson told The US Sun.

The fee has not yet been determined, but it will cost sellers nothing.

As the program is currently in beta testing, only certain buyers will be able to sign up – at least for now.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

The company he said will offer Insider members free shipping in the US on “millions of items.”

Members will also receive birthday bonuses and an annual gift from an Etsy seller.

Insiders will also have “initial access” to discounts and special merchandise, the company promised.

The program will be funded entirely by membership fees.

Since shoppers can currently choose to donate change from their orders, the company said it will also “double” the impact of member donations.

This could mean matching donations, although the language used in the press release is vague.

“We believe Etsy Insider can become an important lever to transform our strong brand affinity into deeper customer loyalty,” said Vice President of Product Marketing and Retention Simona Shakin.

“Our teams are excited to gain insights from this beta launch to help inform Etsy’s future path.”

It is not yet known if or when a broader expansion of the program will occur.
