A POPULAR shoe store has announced its imminent closure at the end of the month with a sign posted on the front door.

Customers will see great deals on merchandise as the store tries to sell the remaining items.

Designer Shoe Warehouse announced its abrupt closing with signs on the front door, the NBC affiliate reported WFMJ.

A sign at the Boardman, Ohio, store — about an hour and 20 minutes from Cleveland — read: “DSW Southland Crossing is closing. Last business day is August 24.”

The second sign on the door said that sale items were an extra 30% off.

DSW’s parent company, Designer Brands Inc., has been trying to recover from a 10% decline in sales, according to the outlet.

In June, DSW announced that the company opened five stores and closed one, resulting in 500 stores in the United States, according to WFMJ.

Of the 500 locations, 20 are in Ohio, according to the CBS affiliate WKBN.

In June, another popular retailer and DSW rival announced the closure of a store in Connecticut.

Shoe Department Encore, a footwear retailer, closed its 14,000-square-foot store at the Crystal Mall in Waterford, Connecticut — about 45 miles east of New Haven.

The brand’s retailer offers popular brands at affordable prices, including Clarks, Sketchers, Crocs, Adidas and New Ballance, according to the store. website.

In March 2023, Foot Locker announced the closure of 420 stores by 2026, according to Fox Business.

The closures are part of a larger company plan.

Foot Locker hopes to rebrand and focus on new, better-performing stores.

The company expects to close 25% of its stores in malls rated A and B and 50% of its stores in malls rated C and D.
