MILLIONS of new iPhone models come with a bonus button that offers some powerful perks.
Apple’s feature is called the Action Button, and it’s customizable enough to do pretty much anything you want.

Apple included the Action Button in its new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 2023 Pro Max.
And users are divided on what the best use for it is.
Apple explains: “iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have an action button in place of the Ring/Silent button.
“You can choose which function you want the Action button to perform when you press it. Because the button is so accessible, it’s useful for actions you perform frequently.
“It’s easy to change the action when you decide to use it for a different function.”

In a Reddit thread, a user said they use it to identify music playing nearby.
They wrote: “I’ve been using this for Shazam and it hasn’t changed since. I don’t think I can put it to better use than that.”
“I use it for the camera. I often use it, quite useful in some situations”, offered another.
“To quickly open Notes and type,” suggested another.
“I use a shortcut to start a text message to my wife. When I press the button, a new message starts and the keyboard appears,” said one creative user.
“I click on the microphone icon to enter the message and click send.”
And it is used for the purpose of the old button, which was to silence the iPhone, “Silent mode. I use it a lot throughout the day.
“I wish there were customization options for double-clicking, that would make it much more useful to me.”

HOW TO CUSTOMIZE THE ACTION BUTTON
Changing what your action button does is extremely easy.
Just go to Settings > Action Button.
You can then swipe left and right between actions until you find one you like.
Some settings will also have a vertical swipe option (like the camera option).
