This app is built into modern Samsung televisions and offers free ad-supported TV.

Samsung says its library currently includes more than 350 live channels.

On its website, Samsung boasts: “No credit cards. Without contract. No cables.”

This is regularly updated with new channels, so it’s always worth checking out what else you’re getting for free.

The list of five new channels is as follows:

  • MLB – focused on Major League Baseball replays and recaps
  • PGA TOUR – golf documentaries, behind-the-scenes footage, highlights, recaps and competitions
  • AHL – live American Hockey League games
  • Formula One Channel – analysis, replays and documentaries for F1, F2, F3 and F1 Academy races
  • ONE TV Championship – highlights of combat sports, series and behind-the-scenes television

It’s worth noting that Samsung TV Plus also offers on-demand content.

Samsung claims the app offers “thousands of movies and shows” for free this way.

It says the free streaming service is available on Samsung Smart TVs from 2016 to 2024.

But that’s not all: you can also watch on Samsung Smart Monitors, Samsung Family Refrigerators Hub and via the web.

It’s also available on Samsung Galaxy smartphones: just check the app or download it if you don’t have it.

“Your Samsung devices come with Samsung TV Plus – Samsung’s free, ad-supported Smart TV video service that gives you instant access to news, sports, entertainment and more,” explained Samsung.

“No subscription, additional device or credit card required.”

Keep in mind that you will need an internet connection to stream.

So if you’re watching on your phone and not using a Wi-Fi network, it will eat into your data allowance.

Your smartphone will also need to run Android 8.0 or later to get the app.

Samsung – a brief history

Here’s what you need to know…

  • Samsung is a large South Korean company made up of many companies operating globally
  • It is known locally as “chaebol”, which means “business conglomerate”
  • It was founded by Lee Byung-chul in 1938 as a trading company
  • But over several decades, it branched out into food processing, insurance, textiles and retail.
  • It was only in the late 1960s that Samsung entered the electronics industry – for which it is now best known in the West.
  • It also launched construction and shipbuilding businesses in the 1970s
  • Today, Samsung’s most important sources of income are its smartphones and computer chips
  • The company is responsible for about a fifth of South Korea’s total exports and about 17% of the country’s GDP.
  • More than 270,000 employees are employed by Samsung worldwide
  • And in 2023, Samsung Electronics earned the equivalent of US$194 billion in revenue

The app is called Samsung TV Plus and can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store and Google Play Store.

You don’t need to create a Samsung account to use the app, but you will get extra features characteristics if you do.

These extra features include:

  • Continue watching
  • Favorite channels
  • Edit channels
  • Set display reminders
  • Create watchlists

However, please note that your Samsung TV Plus mobile customizations will not sync to your TV “at this time,” according to Samsung.
