The feature is called Background App Refresh, and it controls how some apps work when you’re not specifically using them.

Apple explains: After switching to a different app, some apps run for a short period of time before being placed in a suspended state.

“Applications that are in a suspended state are not actively in use, open, or consuming system resources.

“With Background App Refresh, suspended apps can check for updates and new content.”

You can completely disable background app refresh or disable it for specific apps. iPhone applications.

There’s a good chance you can turn it off for a large number of apps without any real consequences in your daily life.

But there is a bonus if you disable background app refresh for some apps.

Apple notes: “Shutting down apps can help preserve battery life.”

However, Apple added that there is a problem: “If you quit an app in the app switcher, it may not be able to run or check for new content before opening it again.

‘I love this feature’ cheers iPhone owners after they find a three-tap setting trick to make their battery last longer

I LOVE!

Apple fans were impressed with the iOS feature.

In a Reddit thread about improving iPhone battery life, a user complained: “Any ideas why my battery is draining so quickly overnight?”

Another user responded: “Check your background app refresh list.”

This comment received dozens of upvotes and even generated a response from the original poster.

Why do batteries get worse over time?

Here’s what you need to know…

  • Most gadgets run on lithium-ion batteries
  • Over time, the amount of charge this type of battery can hold decreases.
  • This means you need to charge your device more often because they hold less charge
  • Batteries have two electrode points – the cathode and the anode
  • To charge a battery, ions inside the battery are forced from the cathode to the anode
  • When you use a battery, it moves in the reverse direction
  • This process wears down the anode structure, reducing its ability to function properly.
  • But the process also accumulates a type of salt on the cathode during charging.
  • As this buildup increases, the battery will accept less charge over time
  • It is estimated that between 500 and 1,000 full charge cycles will reduce the battery’s maximum capacity by about 20%.

They said: “I just checked and disabled some apps that I don’t need to refresh in the background. Thanks for the tip!”

UPDATED!

The good News is that it is extremely easy to adjust this setting.
