GOOGLE Messages has reportedly parted ways with some features that users have come to prefer over time.
Missing features include Nudges, which would send reminders to respond to a message, and alerts for upcoming birthdays.

The removal of both features was reported by 9to5Google on Wednesday.
It’s unclear why Google might have removed these features from Google Messages.
Birthday nudges and reminders were also short-lived, as they were only released in March 2022.
Google describes its Nudges are presented as “Nudges are message reminders in Google Messages that help you send replies easily.”
“Nudges offers 2 types of alerts: Reply reminders to follow up on a message you sent after a certain time.
“Or received birthday reminders to wish a contact a happy birthday.”
The Nudges feature was on by default and could be accessed by going to Message Settings > Suggestions > Nudges.
FRUSTRATED ANDROID USERS
However, Android users have been reporting that the feature is no longer appearing on their devices.
Several people have shared how disappointed they are to see Nudges enter a thread on Reddit called “Google Messages Removes Reply ‘Nudges’ and Birthday Reminders.”
“Another useful feature removed. So frustrating. I also really miss location-based reminders,” said one user.
This user feels that Apple is doing a better job of keeping up with updates.
“These days, it seems like Apple is adopting all the features that Google keeps cutting,” they added.
“As soon as they totally screw up our notification tray, I’ll go Apple and at least have reliable, well-supported OS features.
Another user said: “Is it really that hard to make this an option?”
“I’m tired of removing great features,” said this user.
“Remove categories, nudges and other little things. To the point of only using Samsung Messages without RCS because of the inconsistency.”

“I was wondering why I wasn’t getting them. I stopped looking at my birthday calendar and trusted it 100%!” this user said.
Another user said: “It’s nice to see when you’re texting someone and see them on their birthday. It even gave a reliable notification.
“On the calendar, you might only look at it once and forget about it, especially if there are other events.”
