GOOGLE has asked Android phone owners to try an easily overlooked battery-saving feature.

It’s the perfect solution if you find that your phone is constantly running out of juice.

Make sure to use your Android's battery saving features if you are having charging issues

No matter what you do, your Android phone’s battery will get worse over time.

You can slow down this process with good charging and usage habits, but ultimately you’ll end up suffering from poor battery life (unless you upgrade).

If you’ve had a phone for a few years and are having difficulties, try Google’s Battery Saver feature.

“Some Android phones come with battery saver or low power mode, which helps the charge last longer,” Google explained.

“When Battery Saver is on, it turns on the dark theme and limits or disables background activity.

“So some visual effects, right characteristicsNetwork connections and applications may experience delays in this mode.”

It is a powerful feature that limits some parts of the phone to increase battery life.

This may seem like a bad trade-off, but Android phone owners say they haven’t noticed any major downside to the feature.

SUPER SAVINGS

A Reddit user posted: “Last week I used my device exclusively in battery saver mode.

“And to my surprise, I didn’t experience any noticeable performance degradation or other drawbacks.

“And most importantly, I have no problem with apps crashing in the background. I receive all notifications at the right time.”

Google Android Phone Owner said: “I’ve been using both of my Pixel phones in battery saver mode 95% of the time for months.

“I noticed a few things, but nothing that would actually damage the device. Delayed notifications are the most important thing.”

Why do batteries get worse over time?

Here’s what you need to know…

  • Most gadgets run on lithium-ion batteries
  • Over time, the amount of charge this type of battery can hold decreases.
  • This means you need to charge your device more often because they hold less charge
  • Batteries have two electrode points – the cathode and the anode
  • To charge a battery, ions inside the battery are forced from the cathode to the anode
  • When you use a battery, it moves in the reverse direction
  • This process wears down the anode structure, reducing its ability to function properly.
  • But the process also accumulates a type of salt on the cathode during charging.
  • As this buildup increases, the battery will accept less charge over time
  • It is estimated that between 500 and 1,000 full charge cycles will reduce the battery’s maximum capacity by about 20%.

And one Android fan said: “I’ve been doing this for years. You get an hour or two more battery life with the CPU power cost capped at 70%.

“The difference in power in daily use is not noticeable, while battery consumption is.”

Activating Battery Saver mode is very easy.

I didn’t experience any noticeable performance degradation or other drawbacks.

Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Saver.

You can then activate it immediately or set up a schedule that automates it.

This way, you don’t even have to think about turning it on or off.

Remember: you can change your mind about the settings at any time.
