SAMSUNG has revealed some easy tricks to instantly reduce the power your smartphone is using – giving you a quick boost in battery life.

If your Samsung Galaxy smartphone is always out of charge, it’s worth taking a look at its settings.

One of the main factors that affect your phone’s charge is the battery cell size.

You don’t have much control over this once you already own the phone, so your only real option is to change how you use your smartphone.

Samsung warns about nightmare scenarios where you are “forced to pull out a portable power bank or, worse, sit down next to a wall socket for an hour.”

And the company adds that “if your phone is struggling to keep up with your work schedule, here are some ways to keep your device powered up all day, and then some.”

SAMSUNG BATTERY LIFE TIP #1

You’ll definitely want to check your battery app usage.

Many apps remain active in the background, consuming battery without you even realizing it.

But luckily, your Samsung phone has some settings to help you reduce some of that “vampire” battery drain.

Just go to Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > Background usage limits.

Then you can choose which apps to limit in terms of background activity.

Battery tip: the ‘100% myth’ that’s killing your battery

“For Google Maps, Spotify and other streaming apps, pre-download maps, playlists and podcasts over Wi-Fi before heading out,” says Samsung.

“You can also disable notifications from other apps and limit their background activities. Collectively, these changes conserve significant battery life.”

SAMSUNG BATTERY LIFE TIP #2

Secondly, consider changing your smartphone’s color theme.

Many modern Samsung phones now feature AMOLED displays that can turn off the light of specific pixels to show true black.

Dark mode is specifically designed to reduce battery life and be easy on the eyes at the end of the day.

This means that by using a dark theme you can save battery.

“On Android, access your phone’s Launcher app by long-pressing an empty part of the home screen and clicking Settings,” advises Samsung.

“From there, you can choose different color wallpapers and switch between light and dark themes for other screens.

“The latest Samsung smartphones, including the new Galaxy S23 series, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4 foldables, also feature a dark mode that is specifically designed to reduce battery life and be user-friendly. eyes at the end of the day.”

Why do batteries get worse over time?

Here’s what you need to know…

  • Most gadgets run on lithium-ion batteries
  • Over time, the amount of charge this type of battery can hold decreases.
  • This means you need to charge your device more often because they hold less charge
  • Batteries have two electrode points – the cathode and the anode
  • To charge a battery, ions inside the battery are forced from the cathode to the anode
  • When you use a battery, it moves in the reverse direction
  • This process wears down the anode structure, reducing its ability to function properly.
  • But the process also accumulates a type of salt on the cathode during charging.
  • As this buildup increases, the battery will accept less charge over time
  • It is estimated that between 500 and 1,000 full charge cycles will reduce the battery’s maximum capacity by about 20%.

SAMSUNG BATTERY LIFE TIP #3

The third tip is to reduce the time your Samsung phone screen takes to stay to sleep.

Smartphone screens consume a lot of power, so you want to limit how long your phone illuminates the screen unnecessarily.

Just go to Settings > Display and look for the Screen Timeout feature.

This allows you to reduce the screen timeout to 15 seconds.

If you find it too short, you can adjust it to a longer timeout whenever you want.
