YOU could be throwing money away every month and not even realize it.
If you have a Samsung phone – or any Android device – then there is a “vampire” type of account to look out for.
These accounts are your in-app subscriptions, which can appear in multiple places.
It’s easy to forget that you signed up for a subscription.
And you may have even signed up for something by accident and not realized it.
Fortunately, it’s extremely easy to check your subscriptions and stop your charges.
SUBSCRIPTIONS IN THE GALAXY STORE
Your first stop should be Samsung’s Galaxy Store app.
This is Samsung’s app store and it will be able to show you all the subscriptions made to the apps you downloaded from there.
Samsung explains: “You can cancel a subscription from the Galaxy Store menu.
“You must be logged in to the Galaxy Store to view your subscriptions.
“After you cancel a subscription, you will still be able to use it until the service period ends.”
Just go to the Galaxy Store and tap Menu > Subscriptions.
Choose an app you’re paying for and select Cancel subscription to cancel the subscription.
PLAY STORE SUBSCRIPTIONS
If you’re an Android user, there’s a good chance you’re downloading your apps from the Google Play Store.
Google explains: “Subscriptions on Google Play are for an indefinite period.
“And you will be billed at the beginning of each billing cycle according to the terms of your subscription (e.g., weekly, annually, or other period) unless you cancel your subscription.”
To cancel a subscription, go to the Google Play Store and navigate to Subscriptions.
Choose the subscription you want to end, then tap Cancel subscription and follow the on-screen instructions.
Samsung Performance Tricks – How to Speed Up Your Phone
Here’s Samsung’s official list of tips…
Check your storage:
Samsung says: “Freeing up storage space can improve your phone’s performance. Remove files and apps that need to be cleaned using Device Care.”
Just go to Settings > Battery and device care > Storage and delete unwanted files.
Close unused applications:
Samsung says: “Device speed may decrease when apps are running in the background. Keep your device in top working condition with Optimization.”
Just go to Settings > Car Battery and Device > Memory > Clean Now.
Check if your software is up to date:
Samsung says: “Updating your software to the latest version can help improve your phone’s performance by increasing compatibility and providing bug fixes as well as security patches.”
Just go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
Turn your phone off and on again:
Samsung says: “Restarting your phone is a simple way to clear any unused apps running in the background and speed things up. Automatically restart your phone periodically with “Auto Restart”.
Go to Settings > Battery and device care > Menu > Automation and set up automated restarts.
You will still be able to access the service for the time you paid for.
Google Notes: “When you cancel a subscription, you can still use it for the time you already paid for.
“For example, if you purchase a one-year subscription on January 1st for $10 and decide to cancel your subscription on July 1st, you will have access to the subscription until December 31st.
“You will not be charged another $10 annual subscription on the following January 1st.”
Some apps may also allow you to pause a subscription.
This will pause the subscription at the end of the current billing period – and can then be restarted.
