CHECK whether there is an important setting on your Samsung phone that gives you a big boost in battery life.
This can keep you from running out of charge so quickly if you keep it on.
The setting is called Adaptive Battery and is available by default on Samsung Android phones.
It’s stored in your phone’s battery settings, so there’s every chance you’ve lost it.
But it works to understand how you use your phone – and improve battery life by making optimizations.
“Adaptive battery can extend battery life by learning your phone’s usage patterns,” Samsung explained.
HOW TO USE THE ADAPTIVE BATTERY ON SAMSUNG
First go into your phone settings application.
Then tap Battery and device care > Battery > More battery settings > Adaptive battery.
It should say something like “extend battery life based on phone usage” – turn the knob next for that.
Please note that some settings may have different names depending on your Android version.
When Adaptive Battery is on, some application activities will be limited.
This may affect the performance and speed of notifications.
Samsung explains: “Optimized apps will use less battery, but some background functions will be restricted.”
OPTIMIZE IT!
There are a few other tricks to help improve your phone’s battery life.
Samsung charging tip – how to charge better
Here’s Samsung’s official advice…
To get the most out of your smartphone’s battery, you’ll need to charge it properly.
Most smartphones have a lithium-ion battery that lasts longer when charged regularly.
Unlike the nickel batteries used in older phones, lithium-ion batteries work best when kept above 50% charge.
Repeatedly allowing the battery to fully discharge may shorten its lifespan and decrease its overall capacity.
If this happens, you will need to charge the battery more frequently and it may only last a few hours before needing to be charged, for example.
Leaving your phone connected to the charger (when the phone is fully charged) while using it can shorten the battery life if you do it repeatedly.
Samsung recommends using the general optimization feature to see if it helps.
“You can optimize your phone using the battery and device care feature to reduce battery consumption by closing unused apps and controlling abnormal battery usage,” Samsung said.
Just go to Settings > Battery and device care > Optimize now.
Samsung says it will do the following:
- Closes apps running in the background
- Manages abnormal battery usage
- Checks for crashing apps and malware
You can also set your Samsung phone to automatically optimize.
Just go to Settings > Battery and device care > More options > Automation.
Then just turn on the Auto Optimize Daily feature and your Samsung phone will take care of the rest.
