NETFLIX will shut down more than a dozen famous brand TV models within weeks.
The company is ending support for a selection of popular televisions – meaning you won’t be able to watch anymore, even if you pay for a subscription.
This shutdown particularly affects Sony TVs, specifically those manufactured around 10 years ago.
“Dear valued Sony customer”, began Sony, in a statement.
“Starting July 24, 2024, the Netflix app will no longer be supported on select 2014 BRAVIA televisions (affected models).
“You can continue using the Netflix app until July 23, 2024.”

Fortunately, there is an alternative if you’re worried about missing Netflix.
Sony explains: “You can still enjoy Netflix in Affected Models using a compatible streaming device.”
This means you’ll need to install a connected streaming device like an Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Roku TV Stick, or Google Chromecast.
NON-FLIX!
This isn’t the first time Netflix has been eliminated on Sony TVs.
At the end of last year, Netflix announced that dozens of TVs from 2012 and 2013 would lose support for the application.
They lost access to Netflix in February 2024.

If you have any of these TV models, you will have already lost access to Netflix.
But as with the most recent shutdown, you can still rely on plug-in streaming devices to regain access.
Streaming devices replace your TV’s software, giving you access to a different set of apps and services.
And if you buy a newer streaming device, you’ll still receive updates and support from Netflix for a long time.
So it’s an easy way to upgrade your TV on the cheap without paying for a whole new (and probably expensive) model.
