The last year in technology has been dominated by artificial intelligence.

At Google’s special I/O event last month, the company revealed dozens of AI capabilities characteristicsincluding major updates to your Twins chatbot.

DAYS AWAY

Now all eyes are on Apple, with the iPhone maker preparing to reveal the new features coming to its gadgets at its WWDC event on Monday – and AI is in the plans.

“There is clearly an arm race with the battle of who can shout the loudest about AI,” said industry analyst Paolo Pescatore, speaking to The US Sun.

“Google’s annual I/O developer conference was all about AI, as it sought to regain some of the advantage that OpenAI has arguably opened up against every other major technology company in the field.”

But Paolo noted that Apple has an important advantage: It has its own Siri software, but it also gets a boost from Google’s systems.

“Apple’s role is a little different from Google’s and can benefit from its rivals,” explained Paolo.

“For example, many Google services are used by consumers on Apple devices.

“This, coupled with Apple’s developments in hardware, software and platforms, undoubtedly puts it in a stronger position to take advantage of the AI movement.”

‘Best Apple feature ever’ say iPhone fans after finding secret emoji update hidden in iMessage

IA COMING SOON

Part of the problem for gadget fans is that Apple keeps its cards close to its chest.

The company will remain silent until its speech on Monday, June 10th.

This will begin at 10am in California, 1pm in New York and 6pm in London – with The US Sun reporting live from the event.

WHAT IS WWDC 2024?

Here’s what you need to know…

It’s an annual Apple event called the Worldwide Developers Conference.

Although it’s mainly for app developers, the keynote generally has interesting news for Apple fans.

We can expect news about free iOS updates for iPhone, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS, as well as the new visionOS for the Vision Pro headset.

So if you’re excited to get new features for your Apple devices, mark your calendars for June 10-14, 2024.

The main event will be the Monday keynote at 10am local time at Apple Park in California on June 10.

For New Yorkers, tune in at 1pm – and Londoners should check it out at 6pm.

This event will be live-streamed for free around the world, so don’t miss what Apple CEO Tim Cook and his gadget-making team have planned for you.

WWDC is typically used to announce major software updates for Apple gadgets.

So expect to see new (and free) features coming to the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and even the new Vision Pro headset.

But AI will likely be the dominant trend, according to Paolo.

“Everything is secret and we won’t know for sure until the talk,” explained Paolo, from PP Foresight.

Apple has a proven pedigree and has been working with AI for a long time.

Paulo PescatorePP Forecast

“However, in the most recent quarterly earnings call, Tim Cook discussed Apple’s use of AI in its products, touted its own AI capabilities that are being well-received in current products, as well as teasing future developments.

“All of this points to a major iOS update to help drive iPhone sales even further.”

AI RIVALS

At the moment, says Paolo, Alphabet (which owns Google) and Microsoft have dominated when it comes to AI.

They all face stiff competition from OpenAI and its revolutionary chatbot ChatGPT, which talks to you as if you were almost human.

This has led to a huge rush to launch AI capabilities for big tech giants.

“AI is now embedded in everyone’s key messages and gains across big tech,” Paolo told The US Sun.

“All these players are intensifying their activities, increasing spending and claiming initial successes.

APPLE ADVANTAGES REVEALED

Paolo Pescatore, technology analyst at PP Foresight, says Apple has three big advantages when it comes to artificial intelligence.

ADVANTAGE #1 – THE APPLE IS READY

Apple has been preparing for AI for some time.

The company released its first Neural Engine AI processor years ago.

And now most of your modern devices are powerful enough to support intelligent AI.

ADVANTAGE #2 – BENEFIT FROM RIVALS

Apple has its own helper – Siri – on the iPhone, iPad and Mac.

But Apple also benefits from its devices offering rival services.

For example, much of Google and Microsoft’s AI technology works on your iPhone.

ADVANTAGE #3 – PEOPLE TRUST APPLE

Paolo noted that Apple’s brand is extremely powerful – and trusted by fans.

So when it comes to getting people to actually use AI, Apple has a good chance of driving “adoption.”

“In this early run, it appears that Alphabet, and even more so Microsoft, are in better shape following their initial moves and thanks to their cloud assets.”

READY AND WAITING

But even though Apple has been more discreet about artificial intelligence than its rivals this year, the iPhone maker is still ready to offer you some powerful AI technology.

The company has been preparing for an AI revolution for some time, and the gadgets you own are already set up for it.

The WWDC 2024 event will reveal a lot of AI news, if the experts are correct

“While rivals tout their AI capabilities, Apple has a proven pedigree and has been working with AI for a long time,” Paolo told us.

“Its Neural Engine AI processor was first introduced in 2017.

“Apple is now demonstrating its AI prowess with the new redesigned iPad Pro, powered by Apple silicon and the transformative M4 chipset.

“This new premium chipset will be a huge draw among users and developers.

A life-saving trick for iPhone owners

“This will now extend to the likely new iPhone A18 chip, which hopefully will make the claims of the more advanced, faster chip for AI or something along those lines come to the fore.

“The very nature of the iPhone powered by the new AI-powered chip, combined with the new iOS that will power its own services alongside Google and others, will drive adoption.”

PACKED FEATURES

Paolo also noted that Apple has “earned the trust and acceptance of users” through its highly successful brand, which will help it get people to use AI capabilities.

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a new artificial intelligence tool

ChatGPT, launched in November 2022, was created by San Francisco-based startup OpenAI, an AI research company.

It is part of a new generation of AI systems.

ChatGPT is a language model that can produce text.

It can chat, generate readable text on demand, and produce images and videos based on what it has learned from a vast database of digital books, online writings, and other media.

ChatGPT essentially works as a written dialogue between the AI system and the person asking questions

GPT stands for Generative Pre-Trained Transformer and describes the type of model that can create AI-generated content.

If you request, for example, ask to “write a short poem about flowers”, it will create a piece of text based on that request.

ChatGPT can also hold conversations and even learn from what you say.

It can handle very complicated requests and is even being used by companies to help with their work.

But note that this will not always tell you the truth.

“ChatGPT is incredibly limited, but good enough at some things to create a misleading impression of greatness,” said Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, in 2022.

And when it comes to what features you’ll be waiting for on Monday, no one knows.

But Paolo said: “Voice fits perfectly with AI, which opens up new ways of interacting.

“More personalized features and ways to empower users to ensure their devices remain unique to them, from the home screen to how they navigate and search for things.”
