AMAZON is increasing the price of a popular Prime subscription within weeks.

The company told The US Sun that the “rising costs” of content creation are to blame for rising monthly fees.

If you’re an Amazon Prime member, your Amazon Kids+ subscription bill is now $4.99 per month.

But starting July 8, 2024, that amount will increase to $5.99 per month.

And for new subscribers, the new price is already in effect – so there’s no way to access the cheapest rate.

Amazon Kids+ is a special service aimed at children between the ages of three and 12, offering them content that is safer to view under strict parental control.

Customers were warned about the price increase in an emailed notice.

Amazon’s alert to members reads: “On June 5, 2024, we changed the Amazon Kids + Prime member price from our $4.99 monthly plan to $5.99 per month.

“The Prime member price for our annual plan will remain the same at $48 per year.

“The new monthly price, plus applicable taxes, will be applied from July 8, 2024, on the date of its next billing cycle.

“We will continue to provide families with the fun, learning and peace of mind that comes with thousands of age-appropriate, ad-free apps, videos, games and books, kid-specific Alexa experiences and easy-to-use features. parental controls.”

Main advantages of Amazon Prime that people don’t know about

YOU’RE NOT KIDDING

Amazon Kids+ launched in September 2020 and maintains a flat $4.99 monthly fee for Prime members to this day.

If you are not a Prime member, the fee will remain at $7.99.

The good News is that the cost of the annual Amazon Kids+ plan for Prime members remains unchanged.

We continue to offer Amazon Kids+ to Prime members at a significantly lower price than other customers.

But if you don’t want to shell out $48 for the entire year (equivalent to $4 per month) at once, you’ll have to accept the price increase on July 8th – or cancel your subscription.

That means you’ll pay an extra dollar per month or $12 over the course of a year.

Amazon says its Kids+ subscription still offers good value for money.

“Amazon Kids+ offers fantastic value for kids and parents, including thousands of ad-free games, books, podcasts, music and apps, as well as industry-leading parental controls,” an Amazon spokesperson told The US Sun.

Prime time! Don’t miss the advantages

Don’t waste these prime-ium benefits, he says Sean KeachHead of Technology and Science at The Sun…

If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you’re probably paying $14.99 or £8.99 every month.

And if you only use it for faster deliveries, you’re ignoring a lot of money-saving benefits.

You’re already paying for Prime, so you better get your money’s worth.

First, you can try Amazon Photoswhich is extremely useful if you are a serial snapper.

It gives you access to unlimited full-resolution photo storage, as well as 5GB for videos.

The second is Prime readingwhich offers “a rotating collection of over 3,000 digital books, audiobooks, magazines, comics, and more.”

It’s perfect for avid readers and is completely free with your regular Prime membership.

It’s great to combine with another benefit called Amazon First Reads.

This gives you early access to a new book for free every month.

The third is for gamers and is appropriately named Prime Games.

You will receive free games and in-game content every month on a rotating basis.

And if you’re a fan of Twitch, you’ll even receive a free subscription to the channel to use every month.

Plus, you’ll be able to play some free games using Amazon’s Luna cloud gaming service.

Audiophiles will want to check it out Amazon Musicwhich lets you listen to more than 100 million ad-free songs, plus thousands of popular playlists and podcasts.

And here’s a bonus if you’re in the US: Grubhub+ free.

It’s one of the best perks because it offers an annual subscription that would normally cost $9.99 per month.

You’ll get unlimited $0 delivery fees on any order over $12 with your subscription, but it will end if you cancel Prime.

By Sean Keach

“There are many things that influence the price of a digital product, including the rising costs that come with delivering the high-quality, ad-free content our members expect.

“While we are making an adjustment to the monthly cost of Amazon Kids+ for Prime members to support our continued investment in the Amazon Kids+ experience, we continue to offer Amazon Kids+ for Prime members at a significantly lower price than other customers.

“AND [we] are not changing the cost of an annual subscription.”
