Instagram boss Adam Mosseri announced the big change via threads on Thursday.

“Live scores have been a hit with NBA fans – and starting today, we’re excited to bring the feature to baseball fans with the launch of live scores for MLB games,” he said. he wrote.

The app’s direct competitor, X, formerly Twitter, has been offering this feature for a long time, since 2014.

Threads began testing a live scoring feature in March with NBA scores, and following its success is looking to expand the offering.

“We will continue to expand live scores to cover more sports and leagues,” joked Mosseri.

He then turned to the “growing Baseball Threads community” to provide feedback on the feature.

People quickly applauded the change.

“Amazing!!! I’m already watching for Baseball!!! Keep up the good work too!!!” wrote one person, sharing a screenshot of some game results.

“As a baseball fan, I’m happy that live scores for MLB games are starting,” added another.

Many took him up on his invitation to get feedback and request that other sports be added to the live results offerings.

Angry Facebook users are furious they will quit the app because of mass ‘tagging’ attacks they can’t stop and say it’s ‘unacceptable’

“You should focus on live results from the next football Eurocup (basically starting now),” one user wrote.

“I remember when I was working at Twitter, the first World Cup was a huge boost in engagement,” they continued.

Others equally agreed with the desire for football to be the next sport added.

“What about football? When will we see important games like the Euros?” shared another sports fan.

Another argued that it would have been a better business move to start live football results before MLB results.

“I rarely complain, @mosseri, but if ever there was an opportunity to extend this feature to another sport: the Euros start literally tomorrow,” they wrote.

“That was the play. Opening game Germany v Scotland, Threads release live scores. Crowd goes crazy etc.”

TWITTER RACE

As direct competitors, Threads and X, formerly Twitter, have faced each other since the beginning of the former.

Within hours of its launch, more than 10 million users signed up for Threads.

Shortly after the launch, X CEO Elon Musk intervened, shading the new social media platform.

“It is infinitely preferable to be attacked by strangers on Twitter than to indulge in the false happiness of hiding your pain from Instagram,” he wrote on his own app.

Despite Musk’s insistence on the superiority of his app, consumers claimed that the launch of Thread marked the end of Twitter.

“Twitter is truly dead,” wrote one user.

“Twitter is dead, so check out my thread, I’m not even going to lie. Thread is the wildest fun app I’ve ever used,” added another.

In a survey carried out by At US Sun, 12% more respondents chose Threads over Twitter, but nearly 50% said they wouldn’t use either platform.
