IF you’re looking for free TV to watch, Roku has some tips for you.
The streaming giant has revealed some of its fan-favorite TV streaming apps that don’t cost a dime.

It’s the perfect solution if you’re tired of paying expensive TV subscriptions every month.
There is now a long list of applications who don’t ask for a penny from you.
Instead, they support their free content libraries by displaying advertisements.
So if you’re willing to watch the commercials, you can watch almost a multitude of live channels, TV shows, and movies.
LIST OF FREE ROKU APPS
In a special memo to customers, Roku reveals how to get “more worth your money“.
“Even if your Roku device has several premium channels (Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, etc.), there are many free options in the Roku Channel Store that offer amazing movies and TV shows,” said Roku’s Bill Wilson.
“To get the best free content, we asked our friends on Facebook, Twitter and Reddit and compiled a list of our community’s favorite free channels.”
Here is the list:
- The Roku Channel
- Pluto
- Free Amazon
- Tubi
- Kanopy
- Viki
- Vix
- This old house
- MST3K
- FilmRise
- Alive
- Adult Swimming
- PBS
Most of these apps offer at least some free, ad-supported content.
And PBS has the advantage of having zero commercials – although you may need to donate for some content.
Unsurprisingly, Roku’s own offering was at the top of the list.

Here’s the summary…
The Roku Channel is a streaming app available on multiple devices.
It offers more than 400 live TV channels.
And it promises more than 80,000 movies and TV shows on demand.
Roku says the app is available at:
- Roku streaming devices
- Compatible Samsung Smart TVs
- Compatible Amazon Fire TV Devices
- Website TheRokuChannel.com
- Roku mobile apps (iOS and Android)
Roku notes that the app is only available in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. It’s also available in Mexico, but only on Roku devices.
“With a large mix of programs and limited commercials, I find shows that are not available on major streaming channels or have high prices per episode.
“Minimal interruptions make watching the Roku Channel a great alternative.”
Amazon’s Freevee channel is also available on Roku devices, offering a huge library of content.
That’s fair enough, since the Roku Channel can be downloaded on Amazon Fire TV Sticks.
Many of these apps have a selection of live channels – as well as libraries of on-demand content.
So see if you can survive on these free options and cancel some of those expensive streaming subscriptions.
