GOOGLE has revealed a selection of free updates streaming to your Android phone.
They add new artificial intelligence characteristicsand even help you identify spam phone calls.
The updates come specifically to Google’s Pixel devices.
These are Google’s own brand smartphones running Android.
PIXEL UPDATES
First on the list is the introduction of Twins Nano for Google’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a.
Google explains: “Gemini Nano is Google’s most powerful AI model designed for on-device tasks.
“And starting today, you can use your Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a to access Gemini Nano as a developer option. You can turn on developer options in your Pixel’s settings.”
Secondly, the Summarize feature in Google’s Recorder app is now powered by Gemini on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a, allowing it to provide “more detailed, downloadable summaries.”
“It is able to detect and include the names of speakers so that conversation transcripts are improved,” said Google.
“And with the ability to export transcripts to text files or Google Docs, tracking things like interviews and theoretical classes are facilitated.”
Now you can display content on larger screens with the Pixel 8a, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro.
Simply connect to a monitor via USB-C.
Find My Device will now allow you to locate your phone if it is turned off – even if the battery is dead.
There’s a new Pixel camera feature that automatically identifies “the best moment in your photo” in HDR+, making it simpler to take a photo of yourself in focus and smiling.
If you don’t recognize a phone number, you can now look it up directly in your call log.
And finally, you can now manually choose the camera lens you want to use when taking photos.
Google says this gives you “more control” to get the perfect photo.
FAN FAVORITES
Fans reacted very positively to the News.
In fact, the blog post gained hundreds of upvotes on the official Android subreddit.
One Pixel phone owner wrote: “The lens selection is huge for me.
“Getting the telephoto to shoot is sometimes very tricky, even when there is enough light.
“Plus, number research will save me a few touches. I’m looking forward to that too.”
Google Pixel battery tips – the official guide
Here’s Google’s official advice for Pixel owners on how to boost battery power…
Tip 1: Let your phone close apps you’re not using.
Tip 2: Keep your phone and apps updated. Apps become more battery efficient with each new iteration, resolving bugs and crashes that consume unnecessary power.
Tip 3: Lower the brightness. Save your eyes by lowering your phone’s brightness and saving battery. You can also set your phone to the Dark theme, which turns the background black. It consumes less energy and also relieves some eye strain.
Tip 4: Know which apps and activities consume a lot of energy. Pixel users should be aware of which activities drain their batteries the most. Video calls and games are at the top of the list. Users should also shut down apps they have open but are not using.
Another responded: “YES! We recently purchased a small aquarium.
“And to get a macro shot, the camera software CONSTANTLY switches between a good lens and a less decent lens for a given close-up.
“And somehow, invariably, I choose the worst lens when I take the photo.”
“I feel like we just lost a feature or it was something else. But honestly, something solid. I love the manual lens feature,” said another.
