YOUR Samsung phone has a powerful cellular update settings menu that you may have missed.
It takes a few seconds to find it when you know it’s there – and it can increase battery life and performance.
It’s called the Device Care menu and is available on several generations of Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
But menu settings may have slightly different names or locations depending on your phone model and software version.
“With the Device care feature, you can optimize your smartphone’s performance and check the status of various areas such as battery, storage and more,” explains Samsung.
“With a single touch, you will be able to know how your smartphone is performing and whether you are using it correctly.”
HOW TO FIND DEVICE CARE
Finding the Device Care menu on Samsung phones is very easy.
Just unlock your Samsung phone and go to your device settings.
Now scroll down and tap on Battery and device care.
From there you can check parts of your smartphone, including the battery.
You will also be able to see the available storage, memory, and protection level of your device.
These menus have very valuable settings.
The main menu has an Optimize button now that generally improves device performance and battery life
You can also set your Samsung phone to automatically optimize.
For example, you can run optimization every day at 3 am.
This means you won’t be using it while it’s optimizing, and your phone will be up to date and ready to go when you wake up in the morning.
Additionally, accessing the battery part of the phone will allow you to adjust the phone’s power usage.
You can enable power saving mode or limit background usage of certain apps.
If you go into storage, you can clear some space.
This can improve performance if you are low on storage.
Samsung charging tip – how to charge better
Here’s Samsung’s official advice…
To get the most out of your smartphone’s battery, you’ll need to charge it properly.
Most smartphones have a lithium-ion battery that lasts longer when charged regularly.
Unlike the nickel batteries used in older phones, lithium-ion batteries work best when kept above 50% charge.
Repeatedly allowing the battery to fully discharge may shorten its lifespan and decrease its overall capacity.
If this happens, you will need to charge the battery more frequently and it may only last a few hours before needing to be charged, for example.
Leaving your phone connected to the charger (when the phone is fully charged) while using it can decrease battery life if you do it repeatedly.
And when checking memory settings, you can free up memory instantly by tapping the Clear Now button.
This stops background apps and frees up RAM, which can improve performance.
