APPLE users have been warned to watch out for an iPhone alert that could mean they are being tracked.

Ever since a new anti-tracking feature was released by Apple last year, iPhone users have been scared about what it could mean.

The alert informs users that a new device that was not already linked to their account has been “found moving with you.”

“The location of this device can be seen by the owner. Tap to open Find My and see available actions”, explains the message.

For users who are sure they are not being pinged about one of their belongings, the message could be a sign that someone may be trying to track them.

Reddit user muchoblablabla95 recently shared how the alert awakened her fears of stalkers in a post on the iPhone thread (r/iphone).

“I got this notification today (my phone settings are in Spanish) and it made me panic because I never had an AirTag, I just moved to a new place, and my ex-boyfriend was a stalker,” she said.

“How did I manage this? Please, you need some reasonable explanation,” she begged.

The Redditor explained that she was convinced something wasn’t right.

“I checked everything in my house and I don’t have any AirTag. I find this very scary and I’m really scared because the notification says the AirTag is literally on me. Please I need answers,” she wrote.

REDDIT TO THE RESCUE

The alert has scared other Apple users in the past.

“You need to contact the local police department, not us. I’m serious if you are. This is very scary,” replied one person on Reddit.

“Does this also alert Android phones? These things are scary,” said another.

But some tech-savvy users have given helpful tips to resolve the issue.

“Do you live in an apartment or near neighbors? It might be picking up something like that,” one person suggested.

“I found an air tag on a used truck I bought last week. I just took it apart, took out the battery and threw it in a random trash bin. You should have the option to play a sound,” said a second user.

AN EASY APPLE FIX

O Apple experts I recommend following a few simple steps before losing too much sleep when you receive a “Found Moving With You” alert.

First, double-check to make sure the alert isn’t coming from one of your own devices that isn’t signed in to your profile for some reason.

How to Detect AirTags on Android Phones

Android users can download an app to check if they are in range of an AirTag. Tracker Detect is a popular option.

Tracker Detect searches for items that are separate from their owner and that are compatible with Apple’s Find My network.

These items include AirTag and compatible third-party devices.

If you think someone is using an AirTag or other item to track your location, you can scan to find it.

Remember to ask any friends you borrow something from, like a bag or coat, if they have a tracker inside.

If you’re borrowing something from a Family Sharing group member, you can turn off these alerts for a day or indefinitely.

Some devices, like AirTags, will make a sound if they are moved after being away from their owner for a significant period of time.

Users must be able to play a sound from the device through the app to locate and identify it.

Anyone who finds a device can also click on the Find My app to access a map that will show exactly when and where the item started tracking their movements.

It may be possible to disable an AirTag after identifying its owner by accessing the information stored on the device.

Anyone who discovers an unexpected tracking device on their belongings should contact local authorities to report the situation.

Secretly tracking another person is a crime in many states.
