GOOGLE has revealed the signs your phone is getting so hot it’s not working properly.
Heat is a serious problem for smartphones for several reasons – which is why it is essential to avoid it.
For starters, heat can mean that your smartphone doesn’t physically work effectively.
And heat can also damage the lithium-ion battery inside your smartphone, permanently reducing battery life.
Not only that, but if your phone gets too hot, it can physically hurt you – or even pose a fire risk.
There are some ways to avoid leaving your Android the phone gets very hot and there are indications that the temperature is getting too high, says Google.
“To help prevent your phone from getting too hot, keep it out of direct sunlight,” Google explained.
“If your phone’s temperature continues to rise, it may show a warning and turn off.
“The phone turns off to keep you and your phone safe. If the phone turns off, let it cool down and restart it.”
SIGNS THAT YOUR PHONE IS OVERHEATING
An important sign is that your phone’s camera flash stops working.
And a second sign is when the camera itself no longer works, in an attempt to keep the phone cool.
Thirdly, look for signs that your phone is slowing down – this is an important indicator that it is getting too hot.
Fourthly, your phone may also start charging more slowly.
And finally, you may notice that your mobile data or Wi-Fi is partially or completely turned off.
This can specifically target 5G mobile data, but all network connections may be turned off if it’s too hot.
WHAT CAUSES A SMARTPHONE TO OVERHEAT?
If your phone is getting too hot, Google said there are some steps You can take it.
First, you’ll want to turn off the power-hungry ones characteristicsas Google warns that “your phone may overheat” when you use them.
Examples include:
- Making video calls
- Recording with the camera app
- Playing media – especially on 5G
- Using navigation apps for long periods of time
- Using features or apps while charging your phone

Google says it’s okay if your phone gets a little warm – it can happen when you do any of the following…
- Play videos, games or other media.
- Transfer or restore backup data on your phone.
- Record videos in high definition.
- Connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot.
- Connect your phone or use it as a Wi-Fi hotspot.
- Download or upload lots of data via mobile data or Wi-Fi connection.
- Configure your phone.
- Restore your phone from backup.
- Do any of the above while your phone is charging.
But be careful if it gets hot – you’ll want to stop using heavy apps or features if that’s the case.
Google also notes: “Keep your phone away from excessive heat, such as inside a hot vehicle or outdoors in direct sunlight.
“Do not store your phone in closed or poorly ventilated areas.”
To limit overheating, try reducing the brightness of your phone’s screen and use Wi-Fi instead of mobile data.
Google adds: “If your phone is very hot, unplug it from the power source, if it is plugged in, move it to a cooler location and don’t use it until it cools down.”
