A SMART iPhone trick could change the way you order food forever.
If you often have to fulfill your food ordering requests, there’s a trick you’ll want to try.
It was shared on Reddit and makes use of the often overlooked text replacement feature.
This lets you create typed shortcuts that translate into longer words, sentences, or even large chunks of text.
For example, you can set up a text replacement so that when you type @@, it inserts your email address.
But one Reddit user assigned multiple shortcuts for multiple food orders.
For example, typing “chipotleorder” would turn into an exact item request at a Mexican fast-food restaurant.
The user also configured “daveschickenorder”, “innoutorder” and “mcdonaldsorder”.
Will work within any application that uses the pattern iPhone keyboard.
One user responded, “I love this feature,” while another added, “I’m so glad this feature exists.”
Another said: “This is a fantastic idea. I’ve been using text replacement for years, but mostly to quickly type my email, number, address, etc.
“This is a whole new way that I never thought possible.”
One wrote: “I literally had no idea this existed and I’ve always had an iPhone. I just set up so many daily things that will change my life.
And another added: “This is brilliant.”
HOW TO USE TEXT REPLACEMENT ON IPHONE
Text replacement is useful for food ordering, but also for other things.

First, you’ll want to access an app that supports text input, like Apple Messages.
Then, hold the smiley face or globe in the corner and tap Keyboard Settings > Text Replacement.
Then tap the plus (+) icon in the top right corner, enter a phrase and text shortcut, and save it.

You can also do this by going to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement and follow the same steps.
Some sensible options include using @@ for your email and aaa for your home address.
But you can also set up text replacements for your business address, phone number, or regular email or text replies.
Think about what kind of long, complicated, or annoying things you need to type often – and see if you can come up with a useful text replacement.

- Typing cursor – When typing, hold down the spacebar to turn your keyboard into a trackpad, allowing you to move words and sentences more easily
- Close all Safari tabs – To do this in one go, simply hold the overlapping squares in the bottom right corner and press close all tabs
- Delete many photos quickly – Long press a photo and drag your finger diagonally across Photos to select multiple images at once and click delete
- Convert currency quickly – Swipe down from the top of the home screen, tap the bar and enter a currency (like €200) and it will automatically convert to your local currency
- Check if you need a battery upgrade – Batteries inside smartphones degrade over time. Just go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and check the Maximum Capacity reading. Generally, a battery is considered exhausted when its capacity is reduced to 80%. If it’s below, you can buy a battery change from Apple
- Move apps faster – Hold an app until it starts to jiggle, then (while holding) tap other apps, making them stack so you can move them more easily
