AMAZON subscriptions can be a little expensive, especially if you are already dealing with several other subscription services for your entertainment and shopping needs.

However, the e-commerce giant revealed two ways to cut the subscription in half, as long as you meet some requirements.

Amazon Prime costs about $14.99 per month for members to access free delivery, tens of thousands of movies and television shows, 100 million songs, and even perks on grocery items.

This adds up to about $139 per year.

Subscription may be expensive for some. There are two alternatives that buyers can look for:

  • Main Access
  • Main Student

Prime Access is the cheapest subscription for those who want to get all the regular Amazon Prime benefits.

It costs just $6.99 per month – and new customers can also qualify for a 30-day free trial.

Membership is only available to those who are “qualified recipients of government assistance,” according to Amazon.

This includes those who receive benefits like SNAP EBT and Medicaid.

Other accepted programs include Supplemental Security Income, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

Those who receive tribal assistance also qualify for discounted membership.

Prime Video’s ‘biggest show’ has been canceled after five series as the creator said ‘the end has begun!’

To access discounted membership, customers must submit a photo of their ID or letter of eligibility for government benefits.

Members cannot use their benefits to pay for the subscription, so customers must also enter payment information.

Meanwhile, Prime Student offers the same benefits as Amazon Prime for just $7.49 – or $69 per year.

Qualified customers can also receive a free 6-month subscription trial.

The discounted rate is only available to enrollees at two-year or four-year colleges.

Prime time! Don’t miss the advantages

Don’t waste these prime-ium benefits, he says Sean KeachHead of Technology and Science at The Sun…

If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you’re probably paying $14.99 or £8.99 every month.

And if you only use it for faster deliveries, you’re ignoring a lot of money-saving benefits.

You’re already paying for Prime, so you better get your money’s worth.

First, you can try Amazon Photoswhich is extremely useful if you are a serial snapper.

It gives you access to unlimited full-resolution photo storage, as well as 5GB for videos.

The second is Prime readingwhich offers “a rotating collection of over 3,000 digital books, audiobooks, magazines, comics, and more.”

It’s perfect for avid readers and is completely free with your regular Prime membership.

It’s great to combine with another benefit called Amazon First Reads.

This gives you early access to a new book for free every month.

The third is for gamers and is appropriately named Prime Games.

You will receive free games and in-game content every month on a rotating basis.

And if you’re a fan of Twitch, you’ll even receive a free subscription to the channel to use every month.

Plus, you’ll be able to play some free games using Amazon’s Luna cloud gaming service.

Audiophiles will want to check it out Amazon Musicwhich lets you listen to over 100 million ad-free songs, plus thousands of popular playlists and podcasts.

And here’s a bonus if you’re in the US: Grubhub+ free.

It’s one of the best perks because it offers an annual subscription that would normally cost $9.99 per month.

You’ll get unlimited $0 delivery fees on any order over $12 with your subscription, but it will end if you cancel Prime.

Buyers must use their .edu email address when registering to qualify.

If that’s not an option, eligible students can also provide proof of enrollment by uploading an image of their student ID, transcript or tuition invoice, according to Amazon.

In addition to regular Amazon Prime perks, Prime Student members will also have access to exclusive benefits for students, like a free one-year GrubHub+ subscription and 10% off travel through StudentUniverse.

If you don’t qualify for any of these subscriptions, Amazon offers a third option for shoppers to access the great benefits.

New members can try Prime membership for 30 days at no additional cost.

You must be a new member to qualify for the free trial, and it’s a great way to find out if the benefits are worth the extra cost.
