Amazon cuts the price of the Ring doorbell from $99 to $49 — but an easy shopping trick lets you get a cheaper alternative for $35

It has an official listing price of $99.99, but has been drastically reduced to just $49.99.

According to Amazon trackers, this is the lowest price ever for this particular model.

The footprint is that you will need an Amazon Prime subscription to claim this deal.

But if you have one, you’ll get a 50% discount on the price of this blockbuster device.

It lets you see and hear what’s happening on your doorstep anywhere in the world – all through a smartphone app.

And you can even talk to the people at your door courtesy of dual audio.

The doorbell features motion detection, the ability to create privacy zones, and night vision as well.

You can power Ring with its rechargeable battery or connect it to a regular doorbell connection.

Buyers seem to love it, giving it an overall score of 4.6/5 based on nearly 200,000 reviews.

A whopping 81% of them were five-star reviews and another 10% were four-star reviews.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is mounting their Ring Video Doorbell too high, believing they need to do so to capture people’s faces.

In fact, as illustrated above, viewing faces is not a problem if the Ring Video Doorbell is mounted at the correct height of approximately 1.2 meters above the ground.

The second way your Ring Video Doorbell sees the world is through a network of PIR, or passive infrared, motion sensors. These are heat sensors that detect movement by monitoring the heat within the detection area.

Because people become warmer than their surrounding areas, as a person enters the detection area, heat measurements change. Motion sensors register this change as movement and send an alert.

The motion sensors in your Ring Video Doorbell are designed to detect movement up to 155 degrees horizontally and 5 to 25 feet away from the device.

They are also more sensitive to horizontal movement in the detection area than vertical movement.

Set the doorbell too high and you’re more likely to feel the heat from passing cars than the heat from arriving visitors.

Firstly, this is a wired-only device, so you will need to connect it to a power source.

And secondly, this is a refurbished product, which means it is not new.
