USERS are attacking Meta over technical errors in the Threads app, with some claiming the platform is unusable.

Threads launched in 2023 and was billed as “Instagram’s text-based conversational app.” Its interface often draws comparisons with that of X, formerly Twitter.

Although the app hit an all-time high of 175 million monthly users earlier this week, some are warning about consistent bugs.

Around the same time that Threads reached its milestone – just days before its one-year anniversary – rumors began to circulate about errors in the app’s upload function.

“Every time I try to post something — whether starting my own or responding to someone else’s — I get the above error,” wrote one Reddit user in a July 3 post.

He noted that the issue persisted regardless of whether he used the mobile or desktop version.

Other users stated that they were experiencing problems, with one claiming that the problem had been going on for days and was rendering the platform unusable.

“I’ve been having the same problem for 2 days in a row. I literally can’t post anything because of this,” one user proclaimed.

“I’ve had the exact same error since yesterday: I can’t record any audio or type any text,” wrote another Redditor, noting that she had deleted and reinstalled the app, to no avail.

Yet another user claimed to have found a workaround by posting media first and adding text later via the “edit” function.

Meta has not yet commented on the apparent bug, but this is not the first time technical problems have arisen.

Facebook and Instagram suffered a two-hour global outage in March following a “technical issue.”

The platforms returned to service on March 5 after hundreds of thousands of users reported having their accounts blocked.

Users claimed they were logged out and were unable to log back in even after trying to change their passwords.

The widespread nature of the outage led many to speculate about a massive hack, sparking rumors of foreign interference.

At the time, the White House National Security Council said it was not aware of any specific malicious cyber activity.

The persistent bug comes months after a global outage locked hundreds of thousands of Facebook and Instagram users from their accounts.

There were more than 550,000 reported outages on Facebook and about 92,000 on Instagram at the height of the outage, according to Downdetector.

Other services like Facebook Messenger and Threads – which can only be accessed through an Instagram account – were also affected.

Amid the gossip, Meta spokesperson Andy Stone issued a statement to X.

“Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services,” Stone wrote.

He confirmed that the problem has been resolved, but declined to elaborate on its origins.
