IF you’re looking for a cheap Amazon Prime subscription, there are two tricks to reduce your monthly bill.
It’s a good time to try it out too – the big Amazon Prime Day shopping event is almost here.
It takes place from July 16th to 17th and will offer a wide selection of offers.
The footprint is that only Amazon Prime members can claim these offers.
If you’ve already used a free trial and don’t want to pay the full $14.99 monthly fee (or $139 annual price), there are two great options.
The first reduces the price to $6.99 per month, while the second reduces the monthly fee to $7.49.
AMAZON PRIME DISCOUNT #1 – PRIME ACCESS
The first is Prime Access, which saves you a whopping $96 per year.
It is designed to reduce the cost of Prime for eligible government assistance recipients.
If you are eligible then the bill drops $8 per month – from $14.99 to $6.99.
You’ll need to be part of one of the following programs to qualify for Prime Access:
- Medicaid: Upload an image of your Medicaid eligibility letter
- PHOTOGRAPH: Enter your EBT number and upload an EBT card image
- SSI: Supplemental Security Income (this is different from Social Security and SSDI)
- Direct Express Prepaid Debit Card: Upload card image
- TANF: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
- TTANF: Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
- PNSLP: National School Lunch Program, (the letter must include your child’s name and the name of the school)
- LIHEAP: Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
- WIC: Women, Babies and Children Program
- NAP: Puerto Rico Nutrition Assistance Program Card (Tarjeta de la Familia)
If you want to claim it, you will need to upload an image of your eligibility letter or card for one of the programs above.
And the discount isn’t everything, as Amazon notes: “Amazon’s discounted Prime membership also offers additional savings options.
“Like exclusive deals, coupons, and the ability to subscribe and save on everyday essentials like diapers.”

Audiophiles will want to check it out Amazon Musicwhich lets you listen to over 100 million ad-free songs, plus thousands of popular playlists and podcasts.
And here’s a bonus if you’re in the US: Grubhub+ free.
It’s one of the best perks because it offers an annual subscription that would normally cost $9.99 per month.
You’ll get unlimited $0 delivery fees on any order over $12 with your subscription, but it will end if you cancel Prime.

Another option with slightly smaller savings is Prime Student.
As the name suggests, it is aimed at students and reduces monthly and annual plan costs.
The cost per month drops to $7.49, or you can reduce your annual bill from $139 to just $69.
Even better, the student plan includes a very generous six-month free trial.
