“Camera app,” one user proclaimed, pointing to a built-in iOS feature.

“It’s worse when I’m out on a long day taking lots of photos and videos, which is why I want better battery life.”

“(Apple) Music and TikTok, I love a good scroll when I’m at home before bed,” joked another user.

Although the name “YouTube” appeared frequently, one app drowned out the others.

“I would take a guess and say it’s both Facebook and Facebook Messenger,” began one Redditor.

“If anyone knows how to restrict battery usage through these applications as much as possible, I’m all ears.”

Other internet users expressed this concern.

“I must say that for me it is the Facebook app,” wrote another before expressing his dismay at the fact that Facebook Lite was not available on the app store.

The Lite version uses less data and functions under all network conditions.

However, it is only available for download from the Google Play Store, which means iPhone users should default to the browser version.

O Facebook App battery drain has been a common complaint for years – and with around 3 billion active users worldwide, it’s safe to say that a lot of users have been dealing with it.

It’s important to understand why the app is among the worst offenders. For starters, the app constantly updates in the background, consuming a lot of data.

You can limit this function by disabling “Background app refresh”, which can be found under “General” in “Settings”.

The Facebook app is known for taxing your phone's power. Fortunately, there are ways to limit how often the app updates and sends notifications.

The app’s autoplay feature for videos also consumes a lot of power. Fortunately, this function can be deactivated in the Facebook application.

Simply navigate to “Settings and Privacy” in the menu and select “Media” followed by “Media and Contacts”.

You will find the option to disable the feature under “Autoplay”.

Another possible solution is to disable notifications, which puts a surprising strain on the battery.

The “Notifications” button can be found in your phone’s settings and can be easily turned off.

Lastly, it’s important to check your permissions. Applications who use your Facebook The account to log in to may be contacting Facebook in the background, decreasing battery life.

Go to the Facebook app menu and tap the gear icon. Under “Permissions”, select “Applications and sites”, which will display a list.

From there, you can choose to remove the applications and sites that you no longer want to use Facebook to log into.
