MILLIONS of Americans can get an exclusive benefit that reduces the price of a Max subscription.

The deal is open to college students, offering half the monthly cost of one of the most popular streaming services.

Students enrolled in the Max With Ads plan will only have to pay $4.99 per month, down from the regular rate of $9.99 per month.

This equates to a 16% savings on the annual subscription, which normally costs $99.99.

The streamer has joined forces with student verification platform and online marketplace UNiDAYs to confirm students’ active status.

After completing the verification process, students will receive a discount code that can be redeemed on Max.com.

They can stream Max’s extensive library of shows and movies at a discount for 12 months.

After that, students must confirm their active status again to re-enroll in the offer.

“This collaboration with Max is a fantastic opportunity for us to work with a forward-thinking partner who truly understands the importance of next generation,” said Jon Hawley, CEO and co-founder of UNiDAYS, in a statement.

“We are excited to partner with Max on this incredible opportunity to deliver the best original content and most popular shows to more than 19 million U.S. college and university students at a more affordable price through a gated student offering.”

The ad-free plan costs $16.99 monthly or $169.99 annually, saving subscribers more than 20% annually.

The most expensive option, dubbed the “Ultimate Ad-Free” plan, is available for $20.99 per month or $209.99 per year, saving over 16%.

Max has a plethora of shows and movies aimed at young adults.

Some of the streamer’s best-known titles include “Game of Thrones”, “Euphoria”, “Pretty Little Liars” and “Gossip Girl”.

Max also has a large portfolio of live sports content, including national football, hockey and baseball games.

Max rebranded from HBO Max in May 2023, adopting a blue logo in place of its purple logo.

This followed the April 2022 merger between WarnerMedia – the streamer’s owner – and Discovery, resulting in a new company called Warner Bros.

A month before the merger was finalized, Discovery’s Gunnar Wiedenfels confirmed that the company would eventually combine HBO Max and discovery +.

The new brand debuted in the United States a year later, followed by Latin America in February and Europe in May.

In a statement, JB Perrette of Warner Bros. Discovery said the relaunch was intended to signal a change in programming.

“This new brand signals an important change in relation to two more restricted products, HBO Max and Discovery+, for our broader content offering and consumer proposition,” said Perrente.

“While each product offers something for some people, Max will have a wide range of quality options for everyone.”

What is UNiDAYS?

Unidays, stylized as UNiDAYS, launched in the UK in 2011 and quickly spread across the world.

UNiDAYS is a platform that partners with companies to sell discounted products to college students.

It was founded over a decade ago, based in Nottingham, England, but quickly grew into markets such as the United States and Australia.

UNiDAYS has worked with big names over the years, considering companies like Apple and Warner Bros. Discovery among its partners.

The platform offers sellers a verification service that periodically confirms whether users are active students and provides access to discounts.

It also functions as a small advertising platform, providing clients with native advertising opportunities that allow them to increase their reach and target specific groups of students.
