It’s part of a list of tweaks that Samsung says “substantially” increase its charge.

If you’re always on your smartphone, it’s easy to drain the battery too quickly.

This is especially true if you watch a lot of media, use mobile Internet, or play games extensively.

Samsung has shared a list of display settings you can change to increase battery life.

And a great option is to reduce the resolution of your monitor.

REDUCE SCREEN RESOLUTION ON SAMSUNG

Your screen’s resolution is the number of pixels it has.

For example, a 4K screen has more pixels (four times, in fact) than a Full HD 1080p screen.

The advantage of having more pixels is that you can show more detail on the same surface area.

Imagine a 9 x 9 grid: if you painted them different colors, you would have difficulty showing anything very detailed.

But if that grid is 900 x 900, suddenly you can show much greater detail.

Resolution is usually measured as height by width (or vice versa) of pixels – this is how you’ll see it in Samsung’s settings.

When your Samsung phone produces high-resolution content, it consumes more power.

But by reducing the resolution, you can drain the battery.

And because a smartphone screen is so small, you might not even notice the difference visually.

To change it, go to Settings > Display > Change screen resolution.

The options will differ depending on your Samsung phone model.

But consider going down a level or two if you have the option to see how it goes. benefits your phone’s battery life.

You can always change it at any time.

Samsung charging tip – how to charge better

Here’s Samsung’s official advice…

To get the most out of your smartphone’s battery, you’ll need to charge it properly.

Most smartphones have a lithium-ion battery that lasts longer when charged regularly.

Unlike the nickel batteries used in older phones, lithium-ion batteries work best when kept above 50% charge.

Repeatedly allowing the battery to fully discharge may shorten its lifespan and decrease its overall capacity.

If this happens, you will need to charge the battery more frequently and it may only last a few hours before needing to be charged, for example.

Leaving your phone connected to the charger (when the phone is fully charged) while using it can shorten the battery life if you do it repeatedly.

Note that sometimes applications you are currently running will need to be closed and restarted if you change the resolution.

Samsung display adjustments to boost battery

There are a few other changes you can make to your screen to help with the process.

One option is to reduce the screen timeout delay.

This means your screen will sleep after the last touch faster, saving battery in the long run.

You can reduce it from the default 30-second timer to just 15 seconds in Settings > Display > Screen Timeout.

Another trick is to reduce glare.

This is an extremely efficient way to reduce battery power – although you may need to disable Adaptive Brightness to maintain it. Cool is low.

If you have a phone with an AMOLED screen, turning on Dark Mode can save battery life – because the completely black parts of the screen don’t need to be illuminated.
