YOUR Samsung phone has an extremely useful button that improves battery life – and also prevents accidental crashes.
It’s hidden in the display settings, so there’s a good chance you’ve never seen it.
The feature is called Accidental Touch Protection.
It is designed to protect your phone from waking up when accidentally touched if it is in a dark place.
For example, it could be a pocket or bag.
And Samsung says this can increase battery life – but that’s not all.
“You can reduce battery wear and avoid embarrassing pocket buttons by blocking accidental touches,” explains Samsung.
“That way you won’t have any more setbacks.”
Changing your settings is very easy – and you can always turn the feature off if you don’t like it.
Just go to Settings > Display and tap the button next to protect against accidental touch.
The toggle must be turned on for the feature to be active.
It’s a good idea to leave it on even if you don’t care about the battery life gaining.
OTHER SAMSUNG BATTERY TIPS
Samsung shared this hack as part of a list of other battery-saving tricks you can try.
The first thing is to simply activate power saving mode.
This slows down your phone’s performance to reduce battery wear.
Just go to Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > Power saving mode and turn it on.

You can also customize Power Saving Mode based on your own needs.
Secondly, there is an option to put unused apps in to sleep.
Go to Settings > Battery & Device Care > Battery > Background Usage Limits to adjust this feature.
You can reduce the time it takes for the screen to “run out”.
Samsung charging tip – how to charge better
Here’s Samsung’s official advice…
To get the most out of your smartphone’s battery, you’ll need to charge it properly.
Most smartphones have a lithium-ion battery that lasts longer when charged regularly.
Unlike the nickel batteries used in older phones, lithium-ion batteries work best when kept above 50% charge.
Repeatedly allowing the battery to fully discharge may shorten its lifespan and decrease its overall capacity.
If this happens, you will need to charge the battery more frequently and it may only last a few hours before needing to be charged, for example.
Leaving your phone connected to the charger (when the phone is fully charged) while using it can shorten the battery life if you do it repeatedly.
This can save battery life as you can shorten the default 30 seconds to just 15 seconds.
Go to Settings > Display > Screen Timeout to adjust this.
And finally, consider turning off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when you’re not using them.
