IPHONE owners are begging Apple to make a simple change to the keyboard to make texting easier.

Gadget fans say there’s a big problem with the iPhone keyboard – and want to fix it in a future iOS update.

It all has to do with the lack of number keys on the standard iPhone keyboard.

Normally to access the numbers you need to tap the 123 icon.

This can be particularly tiring if you have to constantly switch between letters and numbers.

A Reddit thread on the subject this week gained more than 2,000 “upvotes.”

The original Reddit post was titled: “For God’s sake, Apple, can we finally have the option to have a permanent number row?”

An iPhone fan responded: “The number line has been an important feedback group for at least 6 years.

“If they want people to use the standard keyboard, they NEED to make it much better.”

Another said: “Coming from Android That’s definitely the most annoying thing for me.”

And one suggested “it should be a button we can turn on or off.”

The good News is that there is at least one typing trick that can help you solve this problem.

It’s not a perfect solution, but it will make your life a little easier.

HOW TO TYPE NUMBERS FASTER ON IPHONE

Normally, switching between letters and numbers on the iPhone keyboard is a pain.

You have to get 123 right and then go back to ABC – and it feels really slow.

But there’s a surprising hidden hack you might have missed.

If you drag your finger up from the 123 icon, you can drop a number to instantly type it and return to the regular ABC keyboard

Open a text box and make sure you’re on the ABC keyboard: the one with all the letters.

Then tap and hold the 123 icon and drag up to the desired number.

Drop it on top of the number and it will type that digit while instantly switching back to letters.

This way, you can quickly type single numbers without having to leave the ABC keyboard every time.

iPhone Tricks to Try Today

Here are some of the best…

  • Typing cursor – When typing, hold down the spacebar to turn your keyboard into a trackpad, allowing you to move words and sentences more easily
  • Close all Safari tabs – To do this in one go, simply hold the overlapping squares in the bottom right corner and press close all tabs
  • Delete many photos quickly – Long press a photo and drag your finger diagonally across Photos to select multiple images at once and click delete
  • Convert currency quickly – Swipe down from the top of the home screen, tap the bar and enter a currency (like €200) and it will automatically convert to your local currency
  • Check if you need a battery upgrade – Batteries inside smartphones degrade over time. Just go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and check the Maximum Capacity reading. Generally, a battery is considered exhausted when its capacity is reduced to 80%. If it’s below, you can buy a battery change from Apple
  • Move apps faster – Hold an app until it starts to jiggle, then (while holding) tap other apps, making them stack so you can move them more easily

It may feel a little strange at first, but it’s a faster way to type once you get the hang of it.

However, if you are typing a long string of consecutive numbers, it may still be faster to use the normal method of tapping 123.
