AMAZON promises an immersive viewing experience with its ‘Alexa home theater’ feature – but users say it misses the mark.

The home theater feature allows users to play audio from their television and other HDMI sources, like a game console, through your Echo speakers.

However, those who took advantage of the feature are dissuading other users from trying it.

For starters, capabilities are limited. The feature is only compatible with first and second generation Fire TV Stick 4K Max and second generation Fire TV Stick 4K.

Even after successfully linking their devices, customers reported lack of audio quality.

One Reddit user said the sound would change “considerably” when pairing the Echo Dot 4 with a Fire Stick – and not in a good way.

“The audio is very muffled and the voices sound duplicated,” the user wrote.

“I have been the unfortunate recipient of these problems lately; Mine never shows on TV when it should, it’s like it has a mind of its own and that mind has an IQ of 10 points,” another Redditor joked in response.

The complaints only accumulated over the years.

A self-proclaimed “tech enthusiast” shared that he switched to Fire TV and bought a pair of Echo Dots in an attempt to “spruce up” his home.

“However, it sucks,” the user reported.

“On YouTube TV, there is a significant delay in lip syncing, which cannot be fixed by the lip sync adjustment feature on Fire TV.”

The Lip Sync Tuning feature is meant to sync video from your Fire TV with sound from your Echo speakers.

After turning on a Fire TV device, a user can select Settings from the home screen and navigate to Display & Sounds.

The Lip Sync adjustment can be found under Home Theater Settings. The user will be prompted to follow the on-screen instructions to pair audio and video.

This morning I played some songs on the stereo pair and it cut out in the middle of the song,” said the Reddit user continued.

“It appears that the system is simply not able to stream audio correctly from the Fire Stick. One way or another, something goes wrong and it’s a huge headache.”

Some users claim that the feature only works on specific Amazon Prime Video content.

“I discovered that all the apps didn’t work or the syncing was so wrong that I couldn’t watch,” recalled one user.

YouTube It was simply the worst, but all the apps I tried were the same.”

The Redditor stated that he spoke to Amazon support and tried to troubleshoot the issue himself, “but all I found were other people having similar issues.”

“Just a terrible experience,” the user declared.

What is Alexa?

If you’ve never heard of Alexa, here’s what you need to know…

  • Alexa is a “smart” personal assistant developed by Amazon.
  • You can find it on a number of different devices, including Amazon’s Echo speakers.
  • Alexa responds to voice commands and can respond to you.
  • It can perform thousands of different tasks, including telling you about the news or the weather.
  • But it can also do more complex things, like ordering a pizza or arranging a taxi pickup on Uber.
  • To activate Alexa, you need to say “Alexa” to an Amazon Echo speaker.
  • Because it is powered by artificial intelligence, Alexa is increasingly intelligent.
  • Alexa will also get more used to your voice and better understand what you want her to do over time.
